CATIA Construction by Dassault Systèmes develops next-generation BIM solutions on the 3DEXPERIENCE platform.

Our task is to improve collaboration, data quality, and digital continuity throughout the building lifecycle by leveraging open standards (IFC) and emerging technologies, particularly artificial intelligence. In this context, the Information Delivery Specifications (IDS) standard is emerging as a key element to formalize, share, and automatically verify the information requirements of BIM models. This internship will allow you to contribute to the definition of future product capabilities around this standard within the CATIA Construction portfolio. Information Delivery Specifications (IDS) allow for the formalization of information requirements applicable to BIM models (IFC) and the automatic verification of their compliance.

Your tasks

The objective of this internship is to identify high-value-added use cases for IDS in BIM workflows, validate user needs, and contribute to the functional definition of future software capabilities for the 3DEXPERIENCE platform. In collaboration with Role/Product Management teams, business experts, and development teams, you will be required to:

• Analyze the needs of various BIM stakeholders (project owners, architects, design offices, contractors, etc.) and translate them into information requirements formalized with the IDS standard.
• Perform a benchmark of market solutions integrating the IDS standard.
• Define functionalities and functional specifications based on concrete use cases.
• Explore new use scenarios for artificial intelligence around the IDS standard.
• Build a library of reusable IDS specifications according to project typologies, phases, professions, or customer requirements.

This internship is centered on product definition and business use cases. It complements a second R&D-oriented internship dedicated to developing a prototype utilizing IDS and IFC standards, a Knowledge Graph, and an LLM to automate specification generation and compliance checking of BIM models.

Your qualifications

• Student in the penultimate or final year of engineering school or in a Master's program (BIM, Civil Engineering, construction, Architecture, Computer Science, or an equivalent field).
• Good understanding of BIM concepts and the IFC standard.
• Interest in open standards, information management, and the digital transformation of the AEC sector.
• You have an analytical and synthetic mindset and the ability to formalize business needs.
• You have a curiosity for AI applications in BIM workflows.
• You possess good interpersonal skills and the ability to work in an international and multidisciplinary environment. Proficiency in English is mandatory.
