Designer CAD/CAM

For a technical production company in the Genk region, we are looking for a Designer CAD/CAM. In this role, you form an important link between design and production. You technically develop new products and prototypes and ensure that production has access to correct and usable drawings and CAD/CAM data. You will enter an environment where customization, metalworking, and technical innovation are central. You will work closely with the manager of the CAD/CAM department and assist in the further optimization of production processes.

Job Description As a Designer CAD/CAM, you develop new items from concept to production. You create detailed 2D and 3D drawings and technically develop complex assemblies. Additionally, you are involved in the design and follow-up of welding jigs for both robotic welding and manual welding. You translate designs into concrete production data and are also responsible for the preparation and programming for, among others, sheet metal lasers, tube lasers, and press brakes. In doing so, you always take accuracy, manufacturability, and applicable safety regulations into account. You work on new prototypes and support various internal departments with technical issues. You also actively contribute ideas on how existing production processes can be organized more efficiently and practically. What will you do?

• Fully develop new items from design to production and keep the associated data up to date.
• Design and draw complex assemblies.
• Design, plan, price, and follow up on welding jigs.
• Technically develop and guide new prototypes.
• Prepare CAD data for production, CAD/CAM operators, and other involved departments.
• Assist in the programming of sheet metal lasers, tube lasers, and press brakes.
• Maintain digital drawing management.
• Contribute ideas for the optimization of procedures, working methods, and production processes.
• Support and guide colleagues and temporary project employees where necessary.
• Participate in meetings regarding specific projects.
• Ensure that design and production activities proceed according to applicable safety procedures.

You have a technical background and feel comfortable in an environment where design and production are closely linked. You work accurately, have an eye for detail, and find it important that a design is also correctly executable in practice. Additionally, you preferably bring the following:

• Experience with CAD software, for example AutoCAD, SolidWorks, TopSolid, or a similar program.
• Knowledge of CAM programming and CNC machines.
• Affinity with metalworking and technical production.
• An accurate and structured way of working.
• You can follow procedures and technical agreements well.
• You are willing to collaborate and share knowledge with colleagues.
• You possess a good knowledge of English.
