Laboratory Technologist

·            Organize work station for the day’s workload at phlebotomy.

·          Ensure that the environmental health and occupational safety measures and regulations are adhered to in the Laboratory

·          Ensure that blood collection apparatus is well stocked and readily available at all times in the phlebotomy area.

·          Collection and labelling of patients samples.

·          Storage of samples before analysis and Proper packaging and documentation of samples for referral.

·          Preparation of reagents and working solutions as per the manufacturers’ instruction.

·          Receive specimens as per acceptance criteria and review the doctor’s request.

·          Run daily quality control checks to ensure the analyzer functionality and document.

·          Analyze tests as requested using the approved standard operating procedure.

·          Analyze and report EQA testing followed by corrective action if need be.

·          Review, Release and Report results

·          Perform and document trouble shooting for any nonconformance followed by corrective action.

·          Retain analyzed samples as per retention guideline in place

·          Use of laboratory information systems, in particular: accessing patient data and information, entering patient data and examination results, changing patient data or examination results

·          Maintain accurate records of services carried out by ensuring correct data entry into the system and registers.

·          Dispatch laboratory results and or reports to appropriate users while maintaining accurate records of the tests carried out and keeping correct data entry on report forms and maintain confidentiality.

·          Perform routine preventive maintenance of the laboratory equipment, troubleshoot broken down equipment, and ensure routine and accurate calibration of the equipment.

·          Ensure maintenance of high standards of hygiene and general cleanliness and that the infection control guidelines are adhered to in the laboratory.

·          To ensure smooth communication between the laboratory, its clients and with the Senior Management is maintained at all times

·          Perform any other duties that may be assigned from time to time by the laboratory coordinator or Laboratory Director.

·          Restock work area with all needed supplies for the next day
