This varied and rewarding role includes supporting service users during their journeys to and from the Centre, offering companionship and emotional support, and helping to deliver meaningful social, educational and physical activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure service users are seated comfortably and wearing their seatbelts throughout each journey.
  • Build trusting and caring relationships with service users and, where appropriate, their carers.

  • Apply safe moving and handling techniques when required.
  • Work closely with another support assistant, colleagues and volunteers to provide a consistent service.
  • Help maintain the Centre and its activity rooms as clean, safe and welcoming spaces.
  • Collect and securely store service user payments, recording transactions in line with procedures.
  • Maintain accurate daily records and promptly report concerns, incidents or changes in a service user’s wellbeing.
  • Attend team meetings, training sessions and supervision as required.
  • Maintain confidentiality, professional boundaries and safeguarding standards at all times.
  • Respect each person’s cultural, religious and individual preferences while supporting equality, diversity and inclusion.

About You

You will be caring, patient and genuinely motivated to improve the wellbeing of older people through meaningful activities and social engagement.

You will also have:

  • A respectful, reliable and compassionate approach to supporting older people.
