Financial Accountant | Bridge between systems and Finance
Job Description
At a grid operator for electricity, natural gas, sewerage, and heat, digital meters transmit their readings automatically and encrypted, and only when that consumption data is correctly processed can a correct invoice be sent. That chain of measurement through system to accounting makes it clear why data quality is not an IT detail, but the foundation of every reliable figure. Even outside the energy sector, the demand is growing for accountants who can fathom a link between systems as smoothly as they can complete a closing. For an organization with its own finance department in Antwerpen, where you work precisely at that interface between operations and Finance, we are looking for a Financial Accountant.
Package of Tasks
- Data that is correct from system to general ledger: you participate in projects at the intersection of operational systems and Finance and monitor the quality and exchange of financial data. You map out and optimize processes, you look for where automation saves time and errors, and you take on ad-hoc projects, always in consultation with Finance and the other departments.
- A conclusive accounting: you manage the full accounting of one or more companies and support the accounts payable and accounts receivable administration: incoming purchase invoices and outstanding items on one side, sales invoices and receivables on the other. With controls and analyses, you monitor the accuracy of what is being booked.
- From closing to insight: you handle the monthly and annual closing. You prepare financial reporting, follow up on them, and analyze them, and you provide internal stakeholders with the reporting they need to make decisions.
Profile
- You are IT-minded: accounting software and the link with operational systems interest you. You know the Belgian accounting principles well, and familiarity with VAT and Belgian taxation is a plus.
- You obtained a bachelor in Accountancy-Fiscaliteit or Boekhouden, or you have an equivalent education, and you have several years of experience in accounting or accountancy. You live in the Antwerpen region.
- You have a critical eye on data quality, work accurately, analytically, and structured, and take proactive initiative to optimize processes. You can work independently, are a team player, and handle deadlines flexibly. You speak and write fluent English (necessary); French is a plus.
