Centre Principal (International Preschool)

I’m recruiting a Centre Principal for an established international preschool with strong enrolment and an established teaching team. You’ll work directly with the owner, with scope to influence teaching practice, develop your team and improve how the school runs. The opportunity The school follows a play-based approach and serves a diverse international parent community. You’ll build on an existing foundation, bringing your educational judgement into the classroom, helping teachers develop their practice and making children’s learning clear to parents. There is room to put practical ideas into action, including improvements to centre routines, timetables and the use of learning spaces. You’ll have a direct working relationship with the person making decisions about the school’s direction. The leadership we’re looking for You notice what needs attention, make sound decisions and follow things through. You can manage competing priorities while keeping track of the details that affect children, families and staff. You’re approachable with parents and clear with your team. You can listen carefully, handle a difficult conversation and address concerns while maintaining trust. You’re comfortable taking initiative, bringing recommendations forward and turning agreed decisions into action. Working with the owner Expect close collaboration during the initial transition as you establish a working rhythm together. The owner communicates directly, pays attention to detail and has clear expectations. You’ll be expected to explain your recommendations, raise issues early and keep agreed actions moving. The aim is a working relationship in which you take confident ownership of daily centre leadership and keep the owner informed. Key responsibilities Lead daily centre operations, prioritise issues and follow actions through to completion.

Maintain a safe environment, accurate records and compliance with ECDA requirements.

Review centre routines, timetables and learning spaces, and implement practical improvements.

Coach teachers in play-based learning and strengthen the quality and consistency of classroom practice.

Set clear expectations, provide constructive feedback and manage teacher performance fairly.

Build trusted relationships with parents through regular communication, clear explanations of children’s learning and effective handling of escalated concerns.

Requirements Currently serving as a Principal, Vice-Principal or Centre Leader in an ECDA-licensed international preschool in Singapore.

At least 5 years of relevant preschool experience.

ECDA L2 certification and eligibility for Principal appointment, supported by an ECDA-recognised leadership qualification.

Current responsibility for independently managing centre operations, teacher performance and escalated parent concerns.

Strong understanding of play-based early childhood education, with the ability to develop teachers and explain educational practice clearly to parents.

Evidence of identifying operational or teaching issues, exercising sound judgement and delivering improvements.
