VTS Operator

Perform detection of vessels approaching the VTS area, establish communication with them, and obtain vessel data. Monitor vessel movement and the position of vessels at anchorages and offshore mooring facilities. Assist in conducting search and rescue operations and works to localize the consequences of water pollution in the seaport area. Collect information from external sources regarding the position of floating aids to navigation. Assist in establishing communication between vessels, shore organizations, and services. Collect, process, and document information and statistical data on vessel movement. Transmit navigational, operational, and other information to vessels at the initiative of the VTS or upon a vessel's request. Assist in navigation. Organize vessel traffic.

Requirements

Higher or secondary vocational education in the specialty "navigation". Knowledge of English at a level necessary for conducting radio communications with vessels on topics related to VTS activities and maritime safety. Ability to work with computer equipment and peripheral devices. Ability to work with programs included in the Microsoft Office suite. Sea service of at least 2 years as a Watchkeeping Officer, Chief Officer, or Master of a sea-going vessel with a gross tonnage of 500 or more.
