Pet Caretaker (Vet Assistant)

Job Purpose / Overview

The Pet Caretaker is responsible for supporting the veterinary team at the Mars APAC Pet Center in Chonburi province by being responsible for the daily health and welfare of pets, ensuring the accuracy of documentation, and supporting the overall operations of the center.

Key Responsibilities

1. Pet Care and Health Management

Support veterinarians in monitoring pet health through regular observation of physical symptoms and behavior.

Administer treatments or medications as instructed by the veterinarian.

Monitor for signs of illness, stress, or abnormal behavior and report immediately to the veterinary team.

1. Documentation and Data Management

Accurately and completely record health data, nutrition, behavior, and daily care of pets.

Support the preparation of reports for research, Audit, and standard certification.

Maintain and update documents related to various requirements and standards to ensure they are current.

1. Operational Support

Support the planning and implementation of pet health and care projects.

Coordinate with various teams, such as veterinary technicians, animal behaviorists, and operations staff, to ensure smooth operations.

Oversee the proper storage and use of food, medication, and pet care equipment.

1. Facility and Equipment Care

Maintain the cleanliness and safety of areas such as animal enclosures, exercise areas, and isolation areas for sick animals.

Perform cleaning, disinfection, and equipment maintenance as necessary.

Support the safe movement of animals within the center or to external locations.

1. Collaboration and Training

Work with veterinarians, center managers, and other team members to maintain high standards of care.

Support staff training regarding animal care, safety, and health protocols.

1. Compliance with Requirements and Standards

Perform duties in accordance with internal organizational standards and certification requirements.

Participate in audits, reviews, and governance activities as assigned.

Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Science, Animal Science, or Veterinary Technology. Experience in animal hospitals, animal shelters, or pet care facilities will be specially considered. Good organizational and documentation skills. Proficiency in using computer programs for recording and report generation. Ability to care for animals with patience, gentleness, and respect. Good teamwork and communication skills. Good command of English in both communication and documentation.
