R&D Packaging Supervisor

Your tasks

Research, develop, design, select, and improve packaging for Skincare, Cosmetic, Makeup, Perfume, and Personal Care products from the development stage through to actual production. Analyze and select packaging materials suitable for product formulas, usage characteristics, production processes, and costs. Plan and control packaging testing, such as leakage, drop tests, pump functionality, sealing, and compatibility between formulas and packaging. Coordinate and control packaging trials on the production line (Filling Trial / Line Trial) to ensure efficient compatibility with machinery and production processes. Prepare and control Packaging Specification, Packaging Drawing, BOM, Approved Sample, and related technical documents. Coordinate with and develop packaging manufacturers (Supplier), including following up on samples, product quality, delivery timelines, and problem-solving. Analyze and resolve packaging issues occurring during development, trials, and actual production, while establishing preventive measures to avoid recurrence. Analyze and improve packaging costs, reduce waste, and increase production process efficiency without affecting quality. Coordinate with R&D Formula, Product Development, Marketing, Purchasing, QA/QC, Engineering, and Production departments to support new product development. Manage the R&D Packaging team, plan work, monitor project progress, and develop team potential. Support operations to comply with quality systems and relevant standards such as GMP, ISO 9001, ISO 22716, ASEAN GMP, HACCP, GHPs, HALAL, and other standards as specified by the company.

Requirements

1. Bachelor's degree or higher in Packaging Technology, Packaging Engineering, Polymer Science, Material Science, Chemical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Cosmetic Science, Chemistry, or other related fields.
2. At least 4–7 years of experience in Packaging Development.
3. At least 1–3 years of experience at Senior / Supervisor level.
4. Experience in developing Packaging from Concept / Sample / Prototype / Testing / Trial stages through to Mass Production.
5. Direct experience in the Cosmetic, Skincare, Personal Care, Perfume, or FMCG industry will be given special consideration.
6. Knowledge of packaging materials such as Plastic, Glass, Aluminium, Paper, Carton, Film, Label, and Flexible Packaging.
7. Understanding of material properties such as PET, PETG, PP, PE, HDPE, LDPE, ABS, SAN, Acrylic, and other related materials.
8. Knowledge of packaging manufacturing processes such as Injection Molding, Blow Molding, Tube Extrusion, Printing, Screen Printing, Hot Stamp, Coating, and Metallization.
9. Knowledge and ability to perform packaging testing such as Compatibility Test, Leakage Test, Drop Test, Seal Test, Pump Function Test, Spray Test, Transportation Test, and Stability Compatibility.
10. Experience conducting Filling Trial / Packaging Line Trial and the ability to evaluate the suitability of Packaging with production machinery.
11. Ability to read and prepare Packaging Specification, Technical Drawing, BOM, Test Report, and related technical documents.
12. Skills in Root Cause Analysis and problem-solving, such as 5 Why, Fishbone Diagram, CAPA, or FMEA.
13. Ability in Supplier Management and the ability to coordinate with Suppliers to develop, resolve, and control packaging quality.
14. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and ERP System.
15. Ability to use AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Adobe Illustrator, or related Drawing programs will be given special consideration.
16. Ability to read and communicate Technical English.
17. Leadership qualities with the ability to manage a team and coordinate effectively across departments.
18. Detail-oriented, systematic, strong analytical skills, and the ability to work under timelines.
19. Ability to work on the factory floor and actively participate in problem-solving with Production, Engineering, QA/QC, and Suppliers.
