GL Accountant / Financial Controller – Closing & statutory reporting – Regio Zwevegem

As a GL Accountant / Financial Controller, you are responsible for the general accounting, financial control, and statutory reporting of the Belgian entities within an international group.

You ensure correct financial reporting according to Belgian GAAP and group guidelines. You work closely with the European Finance Controller, the regional Finance Director, and the Shared Service Center.

Your responsibilities as a GL Accountant / Financial Controller:

• You manage the general ledger activities and post journal entries, accruals, allocations, and corrections.
• You handle the monthly, quarterly, and year-end closings.
• You control the AP and AR entries from the Shared Service Center.
• You perform balance sheet reconciliations for, among others, VAT, payroll, provisions, and intercompany.
• You monitor the quality of the accounts payable and accounts receivable.
• You investigate accounting discrepancies and coordinate the solution.
• You manage the intercompany accounting and associated reconciliations.
• You report financial results via OneStream.
• You prepare variance analyses against budgets, forecasts, and previous periods.
• You support budgeting and forecasting.
• You prepare the Belgian annual accounts and statutory reports.
• You handle VAT returns, intra-community statements, and Intrastat.
• You support corporate income tax in collaboration with external advisors.
• You prepare weekly cash forecasts and liquidity analyses.
• You monitor internal financial controls.
• You coordinate internal and external audits.
• You contribute to process improvements within Finance and the Shared Service Center.

You have a strong background in General Ledger Accounting or Financial Controlling.

You have experience within a Shared Service Center or a combined international and local finance model.

You have thorough knowledge of Belgian GAAP.

You are familiar with Belgian VAT regulations and statutory reporting obligations.

You have experience with periodic closings and balance sheet reconciliations.

You can analyze financial results and explain deviations.

Experience with OneStream is a plus.

Experience with ERP systems such as SAP or Oracle is a plus.

You are fluent in English.

Knowledge of Dutch and/or French is highly desirable.

You work accurately, methodically, and discreetly.

You possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
