Accountant – Accounts Payable & process optimization – Antwerp Region

As Accountant – Accounts Payable & process optimization, you will strengthen the financial team of an international trading and distribution company. You will process financial transactions for various foreign entities, currencies, and international bank accounts.

You will take independent responsibility for the operational accounting. Additionally, you will use your experience to support colleagues and further simplify, standardize, and automate processes.

• Your responsibilities as Accountant – Accounts Payable & process optimization:
• You process supplier invoices accurately and within the agreed deadlines.
• You book bank statements and correctly allocate received payments.
• You prepare supplier payments and follow up on them.
• You perform reconciliations of supplier accounts.
• You reconcile incoming and outgoing payments.
• You process transactions in different currencies.
• You monitor international bank accounts.
• You independently investigate discrepancies and complex accounting issues.
• You coordinate the resolution of identified deviations.
• You support periodic closing activities.
• You ensure that transactions comply with Belgian accounting rules and VAT legislation.
• You respect the applicable internal control procedures.
• You work closely with accounting, treasury, and commercial teams.
• You support and guide colleagues using your accounting experience.
• You identify inefficiencies within the financial processes.
• You actively participate in the optimization and automation of the Accounts Payable workflow.
• You contribute to correct processing within an international environment with large transaction volumes.
• You hold a bachelor's degree in Accountancy-Fiscality or a comparable accounting education.
• An equivalent level through relevant experience is also considered.
• You have at least three years of experience within Accounts Payable or operational accounting.
• You preferably have experience within an international environment.
• You have good knowledge of invoice processing, payments, and reconciliations.
• You are familiar with periodic closing activities.
• You possess knowledge of Belgian accounting rules and VAT legislation.
• You can independently analyze and resolve accounting discrepancies.
• You work accurately and maintain an overview with large transaction volumes.
• You think analytically and formulate practical improvements.
• You are hands-on, proactive, and take initiative.
• You can work independently and take responsibility.
• Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 is a significant added value.
• You have excellent command of English.
• Knowledge of Dutch is a plus.
• You enjoy working with various financial and commercial teams.
