Transport Operations Manager

FindCore are thrilled to be assisting an established passenger transport business with the recruitment of an experienced Transport Operations Manager.

Permanent, full-time position based in Runcorn .

This is a key operational leadership role with responsibility for drivers, fleet availability, service delivery and transport compliance. It would suit an experienced coach or passenger transport professional looking to take ownership of a busy operation and make a genuine impact on performance.

Key Responsibilities

• Take overall responsibility for day-to-day coach and passenger transport operations.
• Manage driver scheduling, route planning and resource allocation.
• Lead, support and develop drivers and operational staff.
• Ensure full compliance with Operator Licence requirements, tachograph rules, Drivers’ Hours and Working Time Regulations.
• Work closely with maintenance teams to ensure fleet availability and roadworthiness.
• Monitor vehicle utilisation, fuel usage, costs and operational KPIs.
• Coordinate fleet requirements with sales and wider business teams.
• Manage incidents, breakdowns and customer service escalations.
• Liaise with clients, suppliers, regulatory bodies and internal departments.
• Prepare operational reports, forecasts and budgets.
• Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, service delivery and operational performance.
• Help drive a professional, high-performing and safety-focused culture.

Skills & Experience

• Minimum 3+ years’ experience within coach, bus or passenger transport operations.
• International Transport Manager CPC for Passenger Transport essential.
• Strong knowledge of fleet management, driver compliance and transport legislation.
• Proven leadership and people-management experience.
• Strong planning, organisation and problem-solving skills.
• Commercially aware with experience monitoring operational costs and KPIs.
• Confident working in a busy environment with changing priorities.
• Strong IT skills, including Excel.
• Full UK driving licence and PCV licence required.
