About the Position: Conduct sensitive classified and unclassified administrative investigations by developing investigative plans, collecting and analyzing evidence, and producing detailed reports and recommendations.

Major duties

  • Identify and make recommendations regarding violations of law, regulations, and other serious problems.
  • Exercise good judgment, distinguish relevant from irrelevant facts.
  • Analyze completed records of investigation into allegations of impropriety by senior officials.
  • Draft complex reports of investigation regarding violations of law, regulations, and other serious problems, abuses or deficiencies.
  • Examine evidence in order to validate investigative findings and/or recommendations.
  • Distinguish relevant from irrelevant facts and pursue each matter with objectivity in order to draw a conclusion.
  • Develop and/or implement investigative plans for gathering and analyzing information and evidence.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes developing investigative plans to produce reports on potential violations and/or deficiencies; analyzing evidence to develop supportable conclusions; conducting interview of witnesses and/or subjects related to investigations; and developing accurate written products to clearly document investigative findings. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-13). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-13).
