Major duties

This position is available in the Division of Hydropower Licensing in the Office of Energy Projects. As a CIVIL ENGINEER some of your typical work assignments include: Analyzing license applications and accompanying exhibits for existing and proposed hydropower projects. Preparing input to correspondence, orders, and environmental documents, including sections related to need for power, project economics, safety and adequacy of the project, and comprehensive development of the waterway. Participating in meetings or conferences within the Commission to plan activities and devise concerted approaches to problems.

Specialized experience is defined as: Preparing documents that assess complex civil engineering issues related to existing or proposed water-based infrastructure projects (such as dams, levees, surface water intakes, canals, flumes, or hydropower projects). Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills, and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including any volunteer experience.
