This position is located in Division of Risk Management Supervision (RMS), Financial Crimes (FC) Section of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) and supports efforts to prevent and deter fraud, illicit finance, money laundering and terrorist activity against or through banks. Major duties

Serves as a resource to Regional Offices and examiners on matters related to the Anti-Money Laundering / Countering the Financing of Terrorism (AML/CFT) examination programs and policy. Replies to procedural questions concerning the AML/CFT examination programs administered by Risk Management Supervision (RMS). Participates in examination program(s) assigned to the Financial Crimes (FC) Section, including maintenance of examination policies and procedures and review of completed reports of examination for quality and consistency. Reviews and analyzes AML/CFT reports of examination, including those containing substantive problems. Drafts summary of examination results and recommended supervisory action plans, if necessary. Participates in Corporate and interagency developments in the AML/CFT area. Assist bankers and examiners in applying, clarifying and interpreting Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) reporting requirements and ensuring AML/CFT program adequacy. Prepares, updates, and edits talking points for Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) presentations and outreach relating to matters involving money laundering, terrorist financing, or other illicit financial activity, as well as the AML/CFT examination process, results, or laws, regulations, or procedures with the FC Section's scope of responsibilities. Assists in the development and presentation of training materials including serving as an instructor for training programs. Represents the FDIC in interagency activities pertaining to any of the examination programs assigned to the FC Section. Develops and designs various automated recordkeeping systems to effectively identify the institutions, as well as track related BSA/AML examination findings. Establishes and maintains liaison relationships with the Department of Justice, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and U.S. Department of the Treasury, other Federal Banking Agencies, the National Credit Union Administration, Financial Crimes Enforcement Network ("FinCEN"), U. S. Department of State, the Conference of State Bank Supervisors, and other investigatory agencies related to AML/CFT and other matters relating to fraud or illicit finance.

Qualifications

Qualifying experience is credited from private and public sectors, including paid and unpaid service (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps). CG-14: Applicants must complete one year of specialized experience equivalent to the grade 13 level or above in Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as: 1) Reviewing Anti-Money Laundering (AML) / Countering the Financing of Terrorism (CFT) bank examination reports, audit reports, suspicious activity reports, or other applicable documents to analyze and assess compliance with AML-related regulations, policies, and law; 2) Organizing and leading projects within established deadlines; and 3) Representing an organization before government agencies on matters relating to AML/CFT, or other matters relating to fraud or illicit finance, for the purpose of building and maintaining relationships or presenting an organization's perspective on such matters.
