NEC Project Manager
About the Role We are seeking two Mid-Level NEC Project Managers with experience delivering construction, infrastructure, civil engineering, or capital projects and a practical understanding of both site operations and project design activities. You will be responsible for managing projects throughout the delivery lifecycle, ensuring contractors perform against contractual obligations while supporting design coordination, programme development, and project governance activities. Working alongside site managers, designers, contractors, commercial teams, and client stakeholders, you will drive project delivery while maintaining strong safety, quality, and contractual standards. The successful candidates will be confident operating within live construction environments, coordinating multiple stakeholders, managing contractor performance, and ensuring that both design and delivery activities remain aligned to programme objectives. This role requires hands-on project managers who are comfortable balancing site presence with project coordination responsibilities and can work effectively across both delivery and design teams. Key Responsibilities Managing the delivery of construction and infrastructure projects from concept and design through to completion Acting as the NEC Project Manager and administering projects in accordance with NEC contract requirements Coordinating design activities to ensure solutions are deliverable, compliant, and aligned with project objectives Monitoring contractor performance against programme, cost, quality, and safety objectives Managing site-based delivery activities and ensuring works progress in line with agreed schedules Coordinating contractors, consultants, design teams, client representatives, and key stakeholders throughout delivery Reviewing contractor programmes, design submissions, technical documentation, and project deliverables Managing project governance, reporting, risks, issues, actions, and dependencies Supporting the management of compensation events, change control processes, and contractual obligations Assisting commercial teams with contract administration and project controls activities Ensuring compliance with health and safety legislation, CDM regulations, industry standards, and site procedures Conducting site inspections, progress reviews, and delivery assurance activities Producing regular project reports and project updates for senior stakeholders Facilitating project meetings, design reviews, contractor workshops, and governance forums Managing stakeholder expectations and maintaining effective communication throughout project delivery Driving project performance to achieve successful delivery against scope, budget, programme, and quality objectives About You Proven experience as a Project Manager delivering construction, infrastructure, civil engineering, utilities, or major capital projects Experience administering and managing NEC3 and/or NEC4 contracts Practical understanding of construction site operations, sequencing, and delivery activities Experience supporting or coordinating design activities within construction or infrastructure projects Demonstrable experience managing contractors and subcontractors within live project environments Experience managing project schedules, budgets, risks, issues, and change control processes Strong stakeholder management skills across operational, technical, commercial, and client-facing teams Excellent communication, coordination, and relationship management capabilities Knowledge of health and safety legislation, CDM requirements, and construction best practice Strong planning, organisational, and project governance skills Ability to interpret technical documentation, design information, project programmes, and delivery reports Proficiency with project management, reporting, and project controls tools Nice to Have Formal Project Management qualification such as APM PMQ, PRINCE2 Practitioner, or equivalent NEC Project Manager accreditation or specialist NEC contract training Experience working within regulated or safety-critical environments Knowledge of compensation event management and contract change mechanisms Experience overseeing multidisciplinary project teams Familiarity with infrastructure, utilities, highways, water, defence, or public-sector capital programmes SMSTS, CSCS, or other relevant site-based qualifications Experience coordinating relationships between design consultants and construction delivery teams Degree qualification in Construction Management, Engineering, Project Management, or a related discipline This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced NEC Project Manager who enjoys working across both site delivery and design coordination, understands the realities of a live construction environment, and can successfully manage projects from planning through to delivery while ensuring contractors and stakeholders remain aligned to project objectives.
