Maintenance Technician Hourly Rate – £20.96 (plus benefits)
Hours – 40 hours per week
Location – Wrexham, LL13 9UT
As a Maintenance Technician at FCC Environment, you will carry out mechanical and electrical maintenance, complete breakdown repairs and provide technical support to ensure the efficient running of the Wrexham PFI Mechanical Biological Treatment Plant. You will undertake both planned and reactive maintenance as part of the site performance team, helping to improve operational performance while working safely and responsibly. You may also be required to complete work across other PFI sites. This vacancy is for a full-time position.

What will you be doing?
- Carrying out planned and reactive mechanical and electrical maintenance
- Maintaining process equipment and completing cost-effective repairs safely and within appropriate timescales
- Providing technical support to help ensure the efficient running of the plant
- Supporting the Process Engineer to ensure the team complies with all relevant requirements
- Reporting and investigating incidents, equipment damage and site issues without unnecessary delay
- Leading process improvement projects
- Developing practical ideas and solutions to improve operational performance
- Controlling contractors and ensuring they operate in accordance with relevant Safe Systems of Work
- Maintaining appropriate standards of housekeeping across the site
- Using the correct tools, equipment and personal protective equipment when completing tasks
- Reporting unsafe practices, accidents, near misses, dangerous occurrences and equipment defects
- Supporting safe and responsible working practices across the Wrexham PFI sites
What are we looking for?
- Experience as an industrial multi-skilled Maintenance Engineer or Technician
- Recognised mechanical and electrical qualifications, such as City & Guilds, HNC or HND
- Experience of working independently, solving problems and delivering effective outcomes
- A strong understanding of mechanical and electrical principles
- Experience working with three-phase systems, PLCs, conveyors, balers, extraction systems, pneumatics, hydraulics and associated equipment
- Working knowledge and experience of health, safety and environmental legislation
- The ability to use engineering knowledge to develop safe and efficient solutions
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organisational and time-management skills
- A logical, methodical and practical approach to problem-solving
- Good numerical skills and attention to detail
- Computer skills, including Microsoft Office and ERP or CMMS programmes
- The ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently
- A flexible approach and willingness to work across a range of operational areas
- A safety-focused approach, with the confidence to raise concerns and suggest improvements
