Senior Property Bookkeeper

An established property company with a diverse commercial and residential portfolio is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Property Bookkeeper to join its team.

Your tasks

As part of the accounts team, this role will oversee day-to-day bookkeeping and property accounting functions, maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring the smooth and efficient management of accounting processes across the property portfolio.

• Manage day-to-day bookkeeping activities, maintaining accurate purchase and sales ledgers.
• Process rental income, supplier invoices and payments using MRI Qube.
• Raise rental demands and quarterly service charge demands in accordance with lease agreements.
• Prepare service charge budgets, tenant apportionments and year-end service charge reconciliations.
• Complete bank and ledger reconciliations, ensuring financial records remain accurate and up to date.
• Monitor tenant accounts, track outstanding balances and assist with arrears management.
• Prepare VAT workings and support VAT returns and HMRC submissions.
• Assist with month-end reporting, year-end accounts preparation and audit requests.

Requirements

Key Requirements

• A minimum of five years' bookkeeping or accounts experience, preferably within the property or real estate sector.
• Strong knowledge of double-entry bookkeeping, bank reconciliations, ledger management and month-end procedures.
• Practical experience of service charge accounting, including budgeting, apportionments and year-end reconciliations.
• Experience processing rental income, supplier invoices, payments and tenant account transactions.
• A working knowledge of VAT and experience supporting VAT returns and HMRC submissions.
• Strong Excel skills and the ability to manage financial data accurately.
• Experience using MRI Qube, Yardi, RealPage or similar property accounting software.
