Credit Controller

Your tasks

We are seeking an experienced Credit Controller to join a growing lending business, reporting directly to the Managing Director. This is a hands-on role managing a live arrears book of approximately 300 accounts, with a primary focus on collecting outstanding interest payments across multiple lending companies.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong collections experience who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment, building borrower relationships and taking ownership of the arrears management process.

Requirements

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and maintain a live arrears book, proactively chasing outstanding interest payments.
• Build professional relationships with borrowers while ensuring consistent and effective collections.
• Produce regular arrears reports and provide updates to the Managing Director.
• Maintain accurate loan records, balances and payment allocations across multiple lending entities.
• Identify persistent arrears and potential defaults, escalating cases where necessary.
• Liaise with external solicitors, LPA receivers and surveyors on distressed loans and recovery cases.
• Prepare account statements, issue late payment fees and draft demand/default letters where required.
• Maintain accurate records using Excel and QuickFile, ensuring compliance with relevant FCA regulations.

How to apply

About You

• Previous experience in credit control, collections or arrears management.
• Experience within lending, bridging finance, mortgages, property finance or financial services would be advantageous.
• Confident making outbound calls and pursuing overdue payments professionally and persistently.
• Strong numerical skills, attention to detail and experience managing multiple accounts.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel, with experience using accounting or loan management systems.
• Highly organised, proactive and comfortable working independently in a fully office-based environment.
