Are you an experienced healthcare professional looking for a new challenge that offers a better work-life balance? Everpool Recruitment is currently recruiting Functional Assessors for hybrid roles across England. You’ll use your existing clinical knowledge and assessment skills in a new way, helping to assess how health conditions affect people's everyday lives and ability to work.

What we're looking for

  • Registered Adult Nurses
  • Mental Health Nurses
  • Learning Disability Nurses
  • Occupational Therapists
  • Physiotherapists
  • Paramedics
  • Pharmacists

You’ll need:

  • At least 1 year of recent post-registration experience in a relevant adult setting
  • At least 1 year of active NMC or HCPC registration
  • Strong communication and assessment skills
  • Excellent report-writing and typing skills
  • Good IT skills
  • The ability to work independently and manage your own caseload

Salary

PIP Functional Assessor £40,000–£42,000 + excellent bonus scheme Typically 3 assessments per day WCA Functional Assessor £42,000–£43,000 + excellent bonus scheme Typically 5–6 shorter assessments per day

Roles are subject to availability and service requirements in each geographical area. Ideally, candidates should be open to either PIP or WCA. Where possible, we may be able to accommodate a preference, although this cannot be guaranteed.

What will you be doing?

As a Functional Assessor, you will:

  • Conduct telephone, video and face-to-face assessments
  • Explore how health conditions affect everyday activities and work
  • Review medical evidence and health questionnaires
  • Ask detailed questions about functional ability
  • Produce clear, accurate and objective reports for the DWP
  • Make recommendations based on your assessment findings

Full training provided Successful candidates will complete a comprehensive 12-week training programme , covering:

  • Assessment techniques
  • DWP guidelines and requirements
  • Report writing
  • Functional assessment skills
  • Role-specific training and support

You don't need previous Functional Assessor experience — your clinical experience and transferable assessment skills are what matter.
