As part of Etterretningstjenesten, Forsvarets stasjon Varanger has a mission to collect information and provide warnings about conditions abroad that may threaten Norway and Norwegian interests.

Tasks

• Plan and coordinate collection and resource use within all of the office's portfolios in consultation with the office management
• Quality assure deliveries and products
• Contribute to recruitment work and training
• Participate actively in production as needed
• Advise the office management and represent the office in and out of service
• In addition to this, a Seniorrådgiver will be responsible for prioritizing collection and efficient resource use according to current collection needs, further development of products, as well as initiating and driving projects, development work, and target searches. Preparing reports that require special insight will also be part of the seniorrådgiver's tasks.

Qualifications

The position has the following requirements that must be met to be considered a relevant applicant:

For rådgiver:

• Bachelor's degree or education at an equivalent level (cand.-degrees, formerly Engineering education, etc.) or scope within a relevant field. Several years of relevant experience with good results may compensate for the education requirement.

For seniorrådgiver:

• Master's degree or education at an equivalent level (major, professional studies, etc.) or scope within a relevant field. Several years of relevant experience with good results may compensate for the education requirement.
• Good knowledge of and experience with COMINT reporting
• Experience with partner cooperation

For both rådgiver and seniorrådgiver:

• Training in the Russian language
• Good knowledge of Etterretningstjenesten's activities
• Long relevant E-professional operational service experience. For seniorrådgiver, at least 2 years
• Good language skills in English
• Good language skills in Russian

In addition, it is desirable if you have:

• Leadership training
• Competence related to elementary data and IT technology, such as basic programming and web development
• Reporting courses
• Analysis experience
• Experience with partner cooperation
• Experience as a technical leader or technical coordinator

Special requirements for a position in Etterretningstjenesten:

Applicants must satisfy the requirements for the highest security clearance.

For employment in Etterretningstjenesten, one cannot have any citizenship other than Norwegian at the time of employment.

The position is subject to compulsory service, cf. the Defense Act and the Defense Personnel Regulations, which means that you can be ordered to international operations. This normally occurs on the basis of willingness. Compulsory service entails requirements for medical and physical fitness and basic English skills. If you do not meet the requirements, you have the opportunity to apply for an exemption.

You will receive an annual salary within the range of NOK 690,000 – 830,000 in the position of rådgiver (code 1434) or within the range of NOK 785,000 – 980,000 as seniorrådgiver (code 1364) according to the current Main Collective Agreement. In addition, a supplement of NOK 8,000 per year is granted. Final salary placement and position code depend on qualifications.
