Etterretningstjenesten – Knowledge of the world for the protection of Norway

The mission of Etterretningstjenesten is to collect information and provide warning about conditions abroad that may threaten Norway and Norwegian interests. We are seeking analytical competence within Russian military affairs.

Tasks

Your main task will be to analyze, assess, and disseminate intelligence within prioritized areas related to Russian military affairs.

Qualifications

The position has the following requirements that must be met to be considered a relevant applicant:

• University and/or college education at a relevant master's degree level, preferably within technical subjects (mechanical/electrical/industrial economics), military subjects (krigsskole and/or advanced officer training from Forsvarets høyskole) or equivalent. Long relevant experience or good achievement of results may, upon assessment, compensate for lack of formal education beyond a bachelor's degree.
• At least 2 years of work experience within thematic fields related to the position's areas of responsibility, preferably within Russian military affairs.

To be employed as a seniorrådgiver, you must be able to demonstrate:

• Minimum 5 years of relevant work experience
• Experience with relevant analytical work

In addition, it is desirable if you have:

• Experience from Forsvaret
• Intelligence-related work experience

• Competence in Russian language

Special requirements for a position in Etterretningstjenesten:

Applicants must satisfy the requirements for the highest security clearance.

For employment in Etterretningstjenesten, one cannot have any citizenship other than Norwegian at the time of employment.

The position is subject to compulsory service, cf. forsvarsloven and forsvarstilsatteforskriften, which implies that you can be ordered to international operations. This normally occurs on the basis of willingness. Compulsory service entails requirements for medical and physical fitness and basic English skills. If you do not meet the requirements, you have the opportunity to apply for a dispensation.

Our employees have flexible working hours, the possibility for training during working hours, as well as favorable loan and pension schemes through Statens pensjonskasse.

You will receive an annual salary within the range of NOK 690,000 – 830,000 in the position of rådgiver (code: 1434) or within the range of NOK 785,000 – 980,000 as seniorrådgiver (code: 1364) according to the current Hovedtariffavtale. For particularly qualified applicants, higher salary may be considered. Final salary placement and position code depend on qualifications.
