Accounting Associate

Ergon Foods — Thessaloniki Ergon Foods, one of the most dynamic groups in the field of Mediterranean gastronomy and hospitality with a presence in Greece, Cyprus, England, and the Middle East, is looking for an Accounting Associate to strengthen its team. The Role We are looking for a dedicated and detail-oriented Accounting Associate to join the Accounting Department of Ergon, supporting the activities of selected stores and business units throughout Greece and the United Kingdom. The position offers the opportunity to work in a dynamic international environment that combines activities in the hospitality, retail, and catering sectors.

Responsibilities

• Oversight and monitoring of daily accounting operations for specific locations in Greece and the United Kingdom, ensuring the correct recording and classification of all transactions
• Checking, verifying, and entering purchase and expense invoices into the accounting system (part of the above, now processed automatically via our invoice recognition and entry tool, which is based on artificial intelligence)
• Reconciliation of supplier, vendor, and creditor accounts, investigating and resolving discrepancies.
• Execution of daily cash reconciliations per business unit, ensuring compliance with internal control procedures.
• Reconciliation of card transactions, ensuring the completeness of documentation and the settlement of relevant requirements.
• Monitoring outstanding purchase orders, delivery notes, and outstanding credit notes to maintain accurate accounting records.
• Support in month-end and year-end closing processes.
• Maintaining organized and updated digital and physical filing systems for accounting and financial documents.

Required Qualifications:

• Degree in Finance & Accounting or a similar department
• Significant work experience in a similar position, at least 1 year
• Excellent knowledge of MS Office
• Familiarity with SoftOne
• Excellent knowledge of the English language
