Lead Engineer, Advanced Development Mechanical (Battery Pack Design)
About the Role We are seeking a Lead Engineer to drive the development of new battery technology and Li-ion battery systems, from early-stage concept through to full production integration. This role serves as the internal technical authority on battery module design, architecture, and performance optimization, partnering closely with cross-functional teams — including internal engineering, suppliers, and Marketing — to assess technical feasibility, deliver data-driven recommendations, and bring emerging technologies into production-ready designs. Key Responsibilities Lead the design and development of Li-ion battery systems and modules, from concept through production Act as subject matter expert on battery pack architecture, module design, and performance optimization Conduct simulation/analysis and prototyping to validate capacity, runtime, and thermal performance Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, suppliers, and Marketing to evaluate feasibility and align on technical direction Present findings and recommendations backed by data to internal stakeholders and leadership Engage with global and regional suppliers to support design and sourcing decisions Required Qualifications Hands-on battery pack design experience, including simulation/analysis (ANSYS preferred), 3D CAD (CREO or SolidWorks preferred), prototyping, and performance verification (capacity, runtime, thermal) Structural or thermal battery pack design experience (at least one required) Experience working within global or regional supplier ecosystems Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or a related field 10+ years of relevant industry experience preferred Preferred Qualifications Experience with spec writing, development planning, and design reviews Familiarity with UL/UN/IEC compliance standards Cell specification knowledge Supplier evaluation experience Strong candidates with relevant potential are encouraged to apply, even without all listed qualifications Key Competencies Strong communication and presentation skills Collaborative, cross-functional working style Self-driven with a structured approach to problem-solving Effective stakeholder management
