Working at envelio Too easy is boring! Together, we have the mission to drive the energy transition forward. We love what we do, and no topic is too big for us. We take responsibility for our work and grow with every new task. In short: Own it, love it, grow with it.

We are a down-to-earth team of coffee and mate lovers. Our geek humor results in a ritualistic use of emojis and the encyclopedic extraction of useless knowledge. More than 150 envelianers with over 20 different nationalities are already on board. Come join us and grow with us!

Your Role As Senior Expert - Energy Grid Solver & Calculations (all genders), you are part of an engineering team with profound knowledge in the fields of electrical engineering, coding, databases, and software architecture. Together with the team, you will drive topics surrounding electrical power engineering and electrical/mathematical models and algorithms, and you will have an influence on the user experience, our company, and our development practices. A particular focus lies on models and calculation methods/mathematical solvers for asymmetrical grid structures and related components.

How you make an impact You are part of a cross-functional department and a team (Backend, Frontend, DevOps developers, Design, and Product Managers) and develop state-of-the-art electrical engineering applications that provide effective customer benefits. You design, expand, and implement electrical engineering workflows and mathematical solvers according to the current state of the art and best practices. You are part of the conception and development of professional backend solutions for the continuous further development of our product in an agile working environment together with the other cross-functional teams in the engineering department.

Your Profile Perfection is a myth! We are much more interested in the person behind the screen. These criteria are intended more as a guide for you. We are excited to see how your individual skills fit us. You have an electrical engineering background and possess profound knowledge regarding the structure and modeling of the components of the electrical distribution grid (e.g., conductor modeling including couplings, detailed transformer modeling, grounding concepts, and equipment). Experience with asymmetrical elements such as center-tapped/split-phase transformers and transformer banks is a plus. You have profound knowledge and experience with the implementation of methods for grid calculations (various power flow methods, symmetrical and multi-phase, short-circuit/fault calculations). Ideally, you have knowledge regarding state estimation and general optimization problems. You have profound (practical) experience in programming – 5 years or more – in the context of electrical engineering and mathematical algorithms (Python, ideally also C++, Go, or Rust), software design, and architecture principles in the context of large software projects. You write state-of-the-art software with enthusiasm and passion as a main part of your daily work. You are a team player and love working passionately with talented and inspiring people. You seek out technical challenges and are proud to find intelligent and creative solutions. You have business-fluent English skills (C1 level). Ideally, you are familiar with parts of our tech stack, know current software design principles, and look forward to keeping up with the current best practices of the industry.
