We are supporting a global manufacturer of advanced electrical interconnect, power and engineered connectivity solutions in the appointment of an experienced engineering manager for its Sharjah operation.
The business supplies technically demanding products into energy, oil & gas, industrial, power and infrastructure markets, with a strong focus on harsh and hazardous environments.
This is a key leadership position responsible for managing the local engineering function while remaining closely involved in product development, technical problem-solving, manufacturing support and customer-specific engineering solutions.
About the role
The engineering manager will lead engineering activities across the Sharjah operation, working closely with manufacturing, quality, sales, supply chain and global engineering teams.
The role will have responsibility for product and application engineering, new product introduction, technical documentation, design changes and engineering support throughout the product lifecycle.
You will also provide technical leadership on customer requirements, manufacturing challenges and product compliance within highly regulated industrial environments.
Key responsibilities
Lead and develop the Sharjah engineering team, establishing priorities and ensuring effective delivery of engineering projects.
Manage product development, product modifications and customer-specific engineering solutions from concept through production.
Lead new product introduction (NPI) and engineering change activities, ensuring effective transition into manufacturing.
Oversee engineering drawings, specifications, BOMs, technical documentation and design controls.
Provide technical support to manufacturing, quality, supply chain, sales and customer service teams.
Work directly with customers to understand technical requirements and develop appropriate engineering solutions.
Support product testing, validation, qualification and compliance with relevant international standards.
Drive root-cause analysis and engineering resolution of product, manufacturing and quality issues.
Identify opportunities to improve product performance, manufacturability, cost and production efficiency.
Collaborate with global engineering teams to share technical expertise, standards and best practice.
Skills & experience
Significant engineering experience within electrical connectors, interconnect systems, cable assemblies, electrical products or technically engineered manufacturing.
Previous experience leading engineers or an engineering function within a manufacturing environment.
Strong background in product design, development, NPI and manufacturing engineering.
Experience working with CAD, engineering drawings, BOMs and engineering change processes.
Knowledge of hazardous-area or harsh-environment products would be highly advantageous.
Understanding of standards such as ATEX, IECEx, UL, CSA or related electrical/product certification is highly desirable.
Strong problem-solving capability with experience of root-cause analysis and continuous improvement.
Ability to work directly with customers on complex technical and application requirements.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, manufacturing engineering or a related technical discipline.
