Responsibilities:

Functional Business Analyst Responsibilities

  • Lead discovery to assess business needs, existing capabilities, gaps, constraints and dependencies.
  • Translate business needs into requirements, user stories, process designs and functional specifications.
  • Define capability scope, customer/user journeys and capability-to-feature-epic mappings.
  • Coordinate requirements and solution design across business, design, technology, operations and testing teams.
  • Challenge assumptions, clarify needs versus wants, and drive alignment on scope and solution outcomes.
  • Prepare the solution plan, ITC document and supporting artefacts.
  • Manage requirements, scope, risks, changes, dependencies and end-to-end traceability.
  • Assess operational impacts and support implementation readiness.
  • Support SIT/UAT preparation, test-case validation, defect triage and requirement clarification.

Requirements

The role requires more than traditional requirements gathering. The FBA must independently research existing capabilities, investigate business and system constraints, engage the right stakeholders and provide informed advice to the business. The candidate must be comfortable working through ambiguity, managing risks and uncertainties, and steering stakeholders towards clear, feasible and timely outcomes.

  • More than 10 years of Functional Business Analyst experience, including digital banking implementation.
  • Experience across at least five full project delivery cycles.

Ability to independently:

  • Research existing documentation, processes, systems and organisational knowledge.
  • Interview stakeholders and subject-matter experts to uncover existing capabilities and constraints.
  • Translate business needs into functional and non-functional requirements.
  • Differentiate business needs from stakeholder wants and constructively challenge assumptions.
  • Develop user stories, process designs and functional specifications. Facilitate alignment across business, design, technology, operations and testing teams.
  • Advise stakeholders on solution options, trade-offs, risks and dependencies.
  • Manage scope, changes, risks, dependencies and requirements traceability.
  • Assess operational impact and support implementation readiness.
  • Support SIT and UAT planning, defect triage and requirement clarification.
  • Drive decisions and outcomes while working under tight timelines.
  • Strong stakeholder management, analytical, communication, facilitation and documentation skills.
  • Experience in Agile delivery and regional banking projects is preferred

Key Domain/ Technical Skills:

Preferred Domain Experience

  • Experience in digital banking is mandatory
  • Experience in one or more of the following domains will be advantageous:
  • Wealth, including equity trading, unit trusts, bonds and CPF Investment Schemes.
  • Online fraud and fraud monitoring.
  • Credit cards and card services.
  • Domestic or cross-border payments.
