Cambridge A Level Chinese Language Teacher
Role Overview
EIC is seeking a part-time specialist Chinese Language teacher for the Cambridge International AS & A Level cohort, preparing students for Cambridge International AS Level Chinese Language (8681) and, for students progressing to the full qualification, Cambridge International A Level Chinese (9715), at Cambridge Centre SG 090. The successful candidate will bring a record of student success at AS and A Level, and will support the continuity of learners progressing from EIC's Cambridge IGCSE Chinese - Second Language (0523) course.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver Cambridge International AS Level Chinese Language (8681) and A Level Chinese (9715) lessons in line with EIC's approved course design and delivery materials and the current Cambridge International syllabus.
- Teach the full syllabus content, including the AS Level Reading and Writing (Component 2) and Essay (Component 3) components and, at A Level, the prescribed Component 4 set texts spanning poetry, plays and contemporary Chinese literature.
- Apply differentiated,mastery-based instruction to meet the needs of learners at varying proficiency levels, including students progressing from Cambridge IGCSE Chinese - Second Language (0523) or an equivalent foundation.
- Prepare students for Components 2 to 4 through structured exam practice, mock assessments and targeted feedback calibrated to Cambridge International mark schemes and assessment objectives (accurate and appropriate use of Chinese, comprehension of and response to written texts, and the logical organisation of information and argument).
- Record student attendance
- Liaise with the Head ACE on student progress as required
- Where qualified, deliver Cambridge IGCSE Chinese -Second Language (0523) lessons to eligible classes
Requirements
- Native or near-native fluency in Mandarin Chinese (Putonghua), spoken and written, including the script conventions (Simplified and/or Traditional) required by the syllabus and byEIC's course materials.
- Bachelor's degree or above in Chinese Language, Chinese Studies, or a related discipline with substantialChinese-language content (a postgraduate qualification in Chinese Language Education or Education is an advantage).
- Relevant pre-universityteaching experience, ideally within Cambridge International AS & A Level or an equivalent international qualification.
- A track record of student examination outcomes at AS and A Level, or in an equivalent Chinese-languagequalification.
- Familiarity with the Cambridge International AS Level Chinese Language (8681) and A Level Chinese (9715)syllabuses, their assessment structure and mark schemes, including reading and writing, essay and set-text technique.
Desirable
- Ability to teach Chinese across the secondary continuum, including Cambridge IGCSE Chinese - Second Language (0523).
- Prior experience teaching in a SWDA-registered private education institution delivering Cambridge International programmes.
- Completion of Cambridge International syllabustraining for 8681/9715, or a Cambridge Professional Development Qualification.
Payment
$60 per hour
