Up to £55,000 DOE Monday - Friday | Days Avonmouth

Are you an experienced Operations & Maintenance professional with a strong mechanical background looking to lead a brand-new facility?

Our client, a leading international materials and logistics company, is looking for an Operations & Maintenance Manager to take full ownership of the daily operations and maintenance strategy across a brand-new processing and distribution site. This is a key leadership position focused on reducing downtime, increasing efficiency, and ensuring safe, reliable performance.

You'll suit this role if you are an operational leader with strong technical awareness, high H&S standards, and the ability to build effective maintenance plans for heavy bulk-handling systems.

The Role

Leading day-to-day site operations, maintenance schedules, and associated operational teams
Ensuring bulk material handling, storage, loading, unloading, and transfer systems operate safely
Managing operational supervisors, maintenance personnel, stores, and external contractors
Building and executing preventive and corrective maintenance strategies to minimise downtime
Monitoring site KPIs, equipment availability, and continuous improvement opportunities
Overseeing material receipt, transfer, loading, and dispatch activities
Managing operational/maintenance budgets, resources, and spare parts procurement
Leading operational troubleshooting and managing business continuity

The Candidate

Proven leadership experience in plant, terminal, process, or heavy manufacturing operations
Strong background in developing maintenance strategies and reducing equipment downtime
Solid basic understanding of mechanical and electrical systems (conveyors, pumps, compressors, motors, drives, and PLCs)
Background in Heavy Manufacturing, Bulk Materials Handling, Aggregates, Ports, Utilities, or Process Engineering
Robust Health & Safety knowledge and proven risk-management experience
Commercial awareness with experience managing operational and maintenance budgets
Strong leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills
