IT Domain Architect

Elia is the operator of the Belgian high-voltage grid from 380 kV to 30 kV. Elia is responsible for the development and maintenance of this grid, makes it accessible to users, and manages energy flows. The Elia group has a team of 2000 professionals whose mission is to ensure the continuity of the electricity supply in Belgium and part of Germany. As the owner and operator of the transmission grids in Belgium and Germany, Elia plays an important role and has a mission to support and implement European energy and climate policy.

Join Elia Group as an Application & Technical Architect and help shape the digital backbone of Europe's energy infrastructure.

In this high-impact role, you will drive the evolution of the Asset IT landscape, ensuring it is secure, scalable, and future-ready, thereby supporting the critical operation of the grid. You will act as a trusted advisor and hands-on architect, bridging the gap between business and technology. You will translate strategic asset management goals into robust, innovative IT solutions that enable a reliable and sustainable energy supply.

Key Responsibilities

• You translate business strategy into actionable IT roadmaps and architecture blueprints.
• You develop and drive architecture principles, standards, and design decisions.
• You propose architectural solutions in governance forums and defend them.
• You ensure that IT solutions are consistent, high-quality, and sustainable throughout their entire lifecycle.
• You manage and optimize the asset application and product portfolio.
• You identify opportunities for simplification, reuse, and cost-efficiency.
• You support solution architects in aligning delivery with the domain strategy.
• You perform trade-off analyses to guide strategic and investment decisions.
• You develop future-oriented domain roadmaps aligned with sector evolutions.
• You ensure compliance with requirements regarding data, integration, security, and regulation.

Your Profile

• Master's degree in IT, computer science, or a related field of study
• At least 10 years of relevant experience in IT, including at least 5 years in IT architecture
• In-depth knowledge of TOGAF, ArchiMate, Gartner TIME, 6R framework, and architecture modeling
• Hands-on experience with domain-driven design and agile methodologies
• Experience with Sparx Enterprise Architect is a plus
• Strong communicator with the ability to engage and influence business and technical stakeholders
• Strategic thinking skills with an emphasis on scalability, resilience, and long-term value
• Cooperative leader who can work with architecture and delivery teams
• You feel at home driving decisions within governance frameworks.
• Strong analytical mindset with experience in architecture reviews
• Background in energy, utilities, or asset-intensive environments is a major asset.
• You are fluent in English; knowledge of French, Dutch, and/or German is a plus.
