Interim Commercial Finance Lead

Elevation Recruitment Group are working with an established business to recruit an experienced Interim Commercial Finance Lead to support a key business improvement project.

Your tasks

Working closely with the Finance Director, this role will focus on reviewing commercial and operational performance, identifying opportunities to improve profitability and supporting the delivery of key business improvements.

This is a hands-on assignment requiring someone with strong commercial awareness who can quickly assess the underlying cost base, review pricing and margins, and provide clear, practical recommendations to strengthen financial performance.

Key Responsibilities of the Commercial Finance Lead

• Review financial and operational performance, identifying opportunities to improve profitability
• Analyse the existing cost base, highlighting key cost drivers, inefficiencies and potential savings
• Assess pricing structures, product and customer profitability to identify opportunities for margin improvement
• Support the delivery of a commercial and operational turnaround plan, identifying areas of underperformance and implementing initiatives to improve business performance
• Work closely with the Finance Director and operational teams to provide commercial insight and constructive challenge
• Review existing financial reporting and KPIs to improve visibility and support better decision-making
• Monitor the impact of agreed initiatives and provide updates to senior stakeholders

Requirements

Key Skills

• Qualified ACA, ACCA or CIMA with strong commercial finance experience
• Proven experience in cost analysis, margin improvement and business performance
• Previous experience supporting business turnaround or performance improvement projects, with a track record of delivering measurable improvements to profitability
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify underlying issues and recommend practical solutions
• Confident working with senior stakeholders and challenging existing processes
• Hands-on, commercially focused and comfortable working in a changing business environment
• Experience within manufacturing, distribution or a similar operational business would be advantageous
