They are looking for a detail-oriented Accounts Payable / Payroll Clerk to join that team and take ownership of payables and payroll for the organization.
This is a newly created opportunity on a team that works closely together and supports one another, with room to grow as the company and its accounting function continue to expand.

Responsibilities
- Process and verify supplier invoices, purchase orders and subcontractor statements
- Prepare, review and run bi-weekly payroll for employees and subcontractors
- Manage payroll deductions and government remittances, including CPP, EI, WSIB and EHT
- Prepare year-end T4 and T4A filings
- Reconcile accounts payable sub-ledgers and resolve vendor discrepancies
- Maintain vendor files and keep payment runs on schedule
- Support month-end and year-end closing with reconciliations and reporting
- Assist with ad-hoc accounting and administrative tasks as needed
Qualifications
- 2-4 years of experience in accounts payable and/or payroll; construction industry experience preferred
- Strong knowledge of Canadian payroll compliance and regulations
- Proficiency with accounting/payroll software such as Sage 300, Sage 50, ADP or Ceridian
- Strong MS Excel skills, including pivot tables and reconciliations
- Attention to detail and the ability to meet tight deadlines
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
