Financial ControllerOn-site | Full-time, permanent | $110,000 – $130,000Our client is a growing agri-food group with businesses across Ontario. Its companies grow, process, package and distribute fresh produce, and finance sits right beside production, inventory, packaging, costs and margins. They are looking for a senior Financial Controller who wants to be close to the operation and to build a finance function the business can rely on.

This is a chance to take a concrete role in the financial and operational decisions of a growing group, with direct access to senior management.

Responsibilities

• Own the monthly and annual close, including general ledger review and validation of accounting entries
• Prepare financial statements, bank reconciliations and intercompany reconciliations
• Maintain and improve accounting policies and financial procedures
• Oversee expense approvals, payments and significant entries, with clear responsibilities to reduce error and fraud risk
• Coordinate external audits and keep tax, regulatory and documentation requirements on track
• Lead and support the accounting team, keeping closing deadlines on schedule
• Standardize reports, procedures and ways of working across the Ontario entities
• Contribute to annual budgets and forecasts, and analyze variances against actuals
• Track costs, margins and profitability by activity, customer, product or entity
• Build dashboards and KPIs that help management make decisions
• Flag financial and operational risks and recommend practical improvements
• Support banking files, audits and special projects
• Bring AI and automation into reporting and finance processes

Qualifications

• University degree in accounting; CPA designation
• 10+ years of relevant financial control experience, ideally in agricultural, manufacturing, agri-food, packaging or multi-entity environments
• Experience supervising an accounting team
• Advanced Excel and strong comfort with ERP systems, including Sage; Power BI is an asset
• French-English bilingualism is an asset
• Accurate, analytical and organized, with sound judgment, a strong understanding of operations and a collaborative leadership style
