Senior Full Stack Software Engineer

Salary: Up to £70,000 + benefits Location: UK-wide opportunities Working model: Hybrid

We're recruiting an experienced Senior Full Stack Software Engineer to join a specialist software consultancy delivering bespoke solutions for complex Central Government projects. This is an opportunity to work across the full software development lifecycle, building modern, secure applications using Java, React, TypeScript and cloud technologies.

The Role

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will:

  • Design, develop and test bespoke software solutions
  • Build full-stack applications using Java, TypeScript, JavaScript and React
  • Work with open-source libraries and components
  • Develop CI/CD pipelines using tools such as GitLab
  • Deploy applications across AWS, Azure and private-cloud environments
  • Contribute across requirements, architecture, implementation and delivery
  • Support the ongoing maintenance and improvement of software
  • Mentor engineers and lead technical delivery, depending on experience
  • Engage directly with government clients and stakeholders

What We're Looking For

You'll have:

  • Strong commercial software-engineering experience
  • Full-stack development experience with Java and React
  • Experience using TypeScript and JavaScript
  • Knowledge of AWS and/or Microsoft Azure
  • Experience with Agile software-development practices
  • A good understanding of testing, version control and CI/CD
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills

Previous consultancy or government-sector experience would be beneficial but is not essential.

Location and Working Arrangements

Opportunities are available across the UK, with flexible hybrid working. There will be an expectation to meet clients regularly, typically every two weeks.

Security Clearance

Due to the nature of the projects, candidates must be eligible to obtain UK security clearance. Applicants must:

  • Hold a British passport
  • Have lived permanently in the UK for the past five years
