ESP are recruiting an experienced IT Service Manager to join a well-established Managed Service Provider (MSP), supporting IT services onsite within a large education environment in London.

This is a great opportunity for someone with a strong education IT background who enjoys combining service leadership with hands-on technical support. You’ll take ownership of day-to-day IT service delivery, working alongside another engineer to ensure staff and students receive a responsive, reliable and professional IT service.

You’ll be the key point of contact for IT onsite – managing priorities, incidents and requests, supporting users, coordinating technical workload and working closely with senior stakeholders to make sure technology supports the wider needs of the organisation.

The role would particularly suit an experienced Senior IT Technician, Network Manager, IT Manager or Service Manager who is ready to take greater ownership of IT service delivery while remaining technically hands-on.

What you’ll be doing

  • Taking ownership of day-to-day IT service delivery
  • Coordinating workload and priorities alongside the onsite engineer
  • Providing hands-on technical support and escalation
  • Supporting Microsoft 365, Windows, networks and end-user devices
  • Working with Active Directory, Windows Server, Azure/Entra ID and Intune
  • Supporting Google Workspace and classroom technology
  • Managing IT suppliers, assets and service providers
  • Supporting cyber security, data protection and safeguarding requirements
  • Identifying opportunities to improve IT services and supporting technology projects and upgrades
  • Building strong relationships with staff, senior stakeholders and external suppliers

What we’re looking for

We’re particularly interested in candidates with previous IT support or service management experience within a school or education environment.

You’ll need strong technical troubleshooting skills alongside excellent communication and customer service skills. You should be comfortable taking ownership of issues through to resolution and able to manage competing priorities in a busy environment.

Experience across Microsoft 365, Windows, networking, Active Directory, Windows Server, Entra ID/Azure and Intune would be particularly useful, alongside experience supporting education-specific systems and classroom technology.

Relevant Microsoft, CompTIA or ITIL qualifications would be beneficial but are not essential.

Package & Career Development

Up to £42,000 per annum, plus:

  • 25 days’ holiday plus bank holidays
  • Birthday day off
  • AXA Healthcare Scheme including travel insurance
  • Life Assurance
  • Company sickness benefit
  • Employee Assistance Programme and wellbeing resources

There is also a clear opportunity for career progression within the MSP. For someone looking to develop beyond onsite service management, there is scope to progress into areas such as IT Consultancy or Project Management, working on larger technology projects and solutions across the MSP’s wider customer base.

This is an excellent opportunity for an education IT professional looking to take on greater responsibility now, while also having a pathway to develop their career beyond onsite IT service delivery.

The successful candidate will be subject to appropriate safeguarding checks, including an Enhanced DBS check.
