YOUR MISSIONS
Within the Product Technical Department, you will join the Safety & Licensing, Codes and methods unit. Our mission: to define and carry the nuclear safety and security framework of the NUWARD SMR, guarantee its consistent application in all dimensions of design, lead safety and security studies, and support strategic exchanges with regulatory authorities in France and internationally. As a true expert on nuclear security issues, you will contribute to the robustness of the NUWARD reactor design and its acceptability by safety and security authorities. In this capacity, you will be required to:
- Lead and supervise the studies defining the security strategy of the project and the NUWARD product, ensuring its effective integration from the design phases;
- Guarantee the demonstration of the compliance and acceptability of this strategy within the framework of licensing processes;
- Contribute to the international deployment of the project by developing a deep understanding of international regulatory and security requirements (IAEA - International Atomic Energy Agency) and then those applicable in different countries;
- Represent NUWARD in international working groups and forums, notably with organizations such as the IAEA;
- Lead studies relating to nuclear safeguards and ensure the integration of necessary provisions for international controls from the design stage;
- Prepare, conduct, and facilitate exchanges with competent French and international authorities;
- Support engineering teams and project partners in the consistent application of the security strategy at the level of the general installation, the physical protection system, and the site layout;
- Actively participate in the construction of tomorrow's standards for Small Modular Reactors (SMR). Job location in Lyon with occasional travel to be expected to various NUWARD sites (Paris, Tours) and partner engineering firms.
YOUR PROFILE
Position subject to security clearance for the protection of national defense secrets. You are an experienced engineer or expert and have a solid mastery of nuclear safety or security issues as well as licensing. You notably demonstrate significant experience in several of the following areas:
- Nuclear regulation and licensing processes;
- Analysis and application of regulatory safety and security requirements in France and internationally;
- Preparation of regulatory files and demonstration documents;
- Safety and security of nuclear installations;
- Design and operation of pressurized water reactors (REP/PWR), ideally with knowledge of SMR technologies;
- Cross-functional management of nuclear safety or security activities in design phases (Conceptual Design, Basic Design or equivalent phases) in a multicultural context.
