About the role At Dyson, Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) is far more than a technology platform. It is the foundation that enables trusted product definition, engineering governance, configuration management, traceability, change control and collaboration across Dyson's global product development ecosystem. The increasing complexity of Dyson products, growing regulatory obligations and expanding multi-enterprise development partnerships require a modern, scalable and well-governed PLM capability. The Head of PLM & Engineering Excellence is accountable for defining and executing Dyson's Product Lifecycle Management strategy, ensuring that Teamcenter evolves as Dyson's authoritative system of product record and digital thread. The role leads the development of the PLM Centre of Excellence, driving adoption of core engineering lifecycle processes, engineering excellence methodologies and future digital engineering capabilities. Working across Engineering, DDIO, Digital Technology, Product Quality, Regulatory, Manufacturing and external partners, the role provides strategic leadership for PLM transformation, engineering governance and process excellence, ensuring Dyson can efficiently deliver increasingly sophisticated products whilst maintaining quality, traceability and compliance. Accountabilities Leadership& Capability Development Lead Dyson's PLM & Engineering Centre of Excellence comprising Engineering Process Ownership, PLM Product Ownership, PLM Transformation, Registry Services and Technical Training capabilities. Define and own the vision, strategy and roadmap for PLM & Engineering Excellence. Build and develop a high-performing global team, ensuring strong succession and technical capability pipelines. Establish capability ownership, governance and operating rhythms across all accountable domains, translating strategic business objectives into transformational initiatives that improve engineering effectiveness, quality and delivery performance. Champion industry best practice and continuous improvement across product development. PLM Strategy, Governance & Transformation Own Dyson's Product Lifecycle Management strategy, roadmap and future-state architecture, acting as Business Owner for Teamcenter and associated PLM capabilities. Ensure Teamcenter remains Dyson's authoritative system of record for product definition, configuration, engineering change, release governance and traceability. Lead evolution of Dyson's digital thread strategy across requirements, design, verification, manufacturing and release. Define governance and ownership boundaries across Teamcenter, Atlassian and connected enterprise platforms. Lead business adoption, capability maturity and value realisation of PLM transformation initiatives. Ensure the PLM platform and supporting capabilities continue to evolve to meet future business requirements. Engineering Lifecycle & Technical Excellence Own the strategic direction, governance and continuous improvement of Dyson's core engineering lifecycle capabilities including Requirements Management, Verification & Validation, Configuration Management, Change & Release Management, Issue Management, Failure Mode Avoidance and Digital Engineering & Simulation. Drive process simplification, standardisation and digitisation across Product Development. Ensure end-to-end traceability across product definition, verification, change and release processes. Define engineering standards that support product quality, regulatory compliance and rapid product delivery. Sponsor advancement of systems engineering, reliability engineering, failure preventionand digital engineering capabilities across Dyson. Registry Services & External Collaboration Own Dyson's Registry Services operating model and capability roadmap. Ensure secure, compliant and efficient exchange of engineering information with external partners. Ensure Registry Services provides secure, compliant and scalable support for Dyson's PLM collaboration strategyand multi-enterprise operating model. Stakeholder Leadership & Change Adoption Build strong relationships with senior stakeholders across Engineering, DDIO, Digital Technology, Quality, Regulatory and Manufacturing functions. Serve as Dyson's advocate for PLM and Engineering Excellence capability development. Drive organisational change programmes required to embed new processes, tools and behaviours. Develop communication, training and adoption strategies that improve organisational capability maturity. Create alignment across stakeholders with differing priorities, balancing strategic goals with operational realities. About you Professional Experience Significant experience leading Product Lifecycle Management (PLM), engineering transformation or engineering operations capabilities within a complex global organisation. Experience defining and implementing PLM strategy, governance frameworksand operating models. Demonstrated leadership of enterprise-scale PLM deployments or transformations. Strong understanding of engineering lifecycle processes including requirements management, systems engineering, verification & validation, engineering change and configuration management. Experience working with enterprise PLM platforms, ideally Siemens Teamcenter. Experience leading multidisciplinary engineering, PLM and business transformation organisations. Strong understanding of digital thread, systems engineering and product development operating models. Experience influencing senior executives and leading geographically distributed teams across complex stakeholder environments.
