Requirements:

In addition to the general requirements from the Labor Act (NN 93/14, 127/17, 98/19, 151/22, 46/23, 64/23), candidates must meet the following requirements:

  1. completed university graduate study or integrated undergraduate and graduate university study in the field of information and communication sciences with at least 60 ECTS credits from the core content of librarianship at the graduate level, i.e., a librarianship study through which high professional qualifications were acquired in accordance with the regulations that were in force before the entry into force of the Science and Higher Education Act (NN 123/03)
  2. passed professional exam for the title of librarian in accordance with the Ordinance on the conditions and method of acquiring professional titles in the librarianship profession. If no candidate meeting the requested requirements applies for the competition, a person who has completed another university graduate study or integrated undergraduate and graduate university study or an equivalent study may also be employed, and within 3 years from the date of employment to the position of librarian, they are obliged to acquire 60 ECTS credits from the core content of librarianship in an accredited (PKK 60) graduate study in information and communication sciences, after which they are obliged to pass the professional exam no later than within one year.
  3. general and special computer literacy
  4. ability to understand and read in one world language
  5. ability to organize professional tasks, teamwork

Along with a hand-signed application for the competition, which must be separate from the CV, it is necessary to state the candidate's first and last name, date and place of birth, residential address, telephone number and email address for receiving notifications, as well as a list of the documents being submitted.

  3. Proof of passed professional exam (copy of certificate/confirmation, if possessed),
  4. Proof of computer literacy (copy of certificate, confirmation or a hand-signed statement by the candidate regarding the fulfillment of the stated requirement)

  6. Proof of Croatian citizenship (domovnica or copy of identity card),
  7. Proof of total years of service (printout of the electronic record of data from HZMO or confirmation of data recorded in the HZMO master record, not older than the day of the publication of the competition),
  8. Certificate that no criminal proceedings are being conducted against the candidate for any of the criminal offenses from the Criminal Code of the Republic of Croatia (not older than 30 days from the day the competition was announced)

Corrections are submitted as copies, and the candidate with whom the employment relationship will be established is obliged, before signing the employment contract, to submit the documentation in original or certified copy.

Job description:

  • lends and withdraws library materials, performs registrations and renewals of membership
  • provides users with information about the Library, the collection, and Library programs
  • resolves user information requests
  • recommends books to users for reading
  • participates in various forms of work with users
  • participates in the creation of information bulletins, exhibitions, cultural-animation programs
  • maintains various statistics on the collection, users, and use of materials
  • proposes titles of library materials for procurement
  • catalogs library materials, manages catalogs and other records
  • participates in the procurement of materials and their inclusion in the library collection
  • checks the arrival of ordered materials and reports incorrect orders
  • takes care of the security and archiving of databases of library materials and users
  • prepares necessary documents and texts in standard computer programs, participates in the tasks of auditing and weeding library materials
  • updates all types of catalogs
  • harmonizes procurement policy, organizes the library collection and collections, purges and selects library materials, collects and analyzes user requests regarding the procurement of library materials, assesses the collection
  • performs cataloging-bibliographic processing of more demanding documents
  • prepares documents for computer processing
  • performs content analysis of documents for the purposes of classification and subject processing
  • creates annotations and summaries, participates in the creation and refinement of computer processing programs
  • creates thesauri, descriptors, manages bibliographies and systematic catalogs
  • processes materials from special collections
  • prepares and creates information aids (databases, bibliographies, new arrival bulletins, etc.)
  • performs retrospective bibliographic searches and selective dissemination of information
  • resolves complex user information requests
  • manages interlibrary loan
  • compiles informative, signal, and recommendation bulletins, organizes special collections
  • searches "online" databases
  • manages and designs library-information aids
  • manages and updates the website and social media pages of the Library
  • carries out and prepares promotional forms of work for animating users, organizes and carries out work programs in satisfying the cultural needs of citizens
  • prepares programs and carries out various forms of education and training of users for independent use of information material
  • plans marketing actions of the Library
  • organizes and encourages groups of users, potential users, and influential persons from the environment in advocating for the Library and the librarianship profession
  • follows professional achievements in the country and the world
  • prepares reports, abstracts, articles and participates in professional education
  • analyzes statistical data
  • prepares plans, reports, monitors, analyzes and evaluates performed tasks
  • participates in the work of domestic and foreign professional associations, organizes and leads professional gatherings, conferences and professional meetings
  • participates in the training of professional library workers.
  • Performs other tasks arising from the work process and by order of the superior manager and director.

Persons who, according to special regulations, exercise the right of priority must refer to that right in the application, i.e., attach all prescribed documentation according to the special law along with the application. A complete application is considered an application that contains all the data and attachments mentioned in this competition. A person who submits an incomplete and/or late arriving application and/or does not meet the formal requirements of this competition is not considered a candidate in the procedure and such an application will not be considered. Candidates who apply and meet all the prescribed requirements of the competition will proceed to an oral interview with the members of the Commission for the implementation of the competition, which will be scored, for the purpose of checking work abilities and skills. Candidates will be notified of the time of the interview via the provided email addresses. If a candidate does not attend the interview, it will be considered that they have withdrawn their application for the competition. By applying for the competition, the applied candidates expressly agree that Ustanova Dubrovačke knjižnice, as the controller of personal data, may collect, use, and further process data for the purpose of conducting the competition procedure in accordance with the provisions of the General Data Protection Regulation SL EU L119 (Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 27 April 2016 on the protection of natural persons with regard to the processing of personal data and on the free movement of such data, and repealing Directive 95/46/EC). All candidates will be notified of the results of the competition within the legal period, by mail to the address and by email, which they stated in the application for the competition. Ustanova Dubrovačke knjižnice reserves the right to suspend the competition procedure, i.e., not to select any candidate if none of the candidates have satisfied the requirements or if circumstances change significantly after the publication of the competition. The competition is open for 8 (eight) days from the day of publication on the web pages of the Croatian Employment Service and the web pages of the Dubrovnik Libraries.
