Laboratory technician at DTU Metabolomics Core - DTU Bioengineering
The DTU Metabolomics Core at DTU Bioengineering, Kgs. Lyngby, is looking for a skilled and motivated Laboratory Technician to join our team of excellent scientists and technicians collaborating on microbial molecules, trying to unravel their importance in nature, and discover how they can benefit humanity in various ways, such as in agriculture, and novel pharmaceuticals.
About the DTU Metabolomics Core The DTU Metabolomics Core in the Department of Bioengineering is one of a several Core facilities within the Department that supports a wide range of research and teaching. The area in which the Metabolomics Core specializes is in the chemical analysis of small secondary metabolites from microorganisms, such as bacteria, fungi, and microalgae. This analysis is undertaken in our extensive instrument suite (HPLC, LCMS, GCMS, MALDI etc.), a collection of instrumentation that you will work closely with as our new technician.
The primary job areas of responsibility As Laboratory Technician in the Metabolomics Core, you will play a key role in the day-to-day operation of the facility in close collaboration with the Facility Manager. Your responsibilities will include: Operating and maintaining our analytical instrumentation, including high-resolution LC-MS systems (sample preparation, calibration, QC runs, routine troubleshooting and preventive maintenance in cooperation with service engineers) Running samples for internal researchers and external contract projects, from sample preparation to data acquisition Ordering and managing laboratory supplies, consumables, and chemicals, and keeping the lab stocked and organized Maintaining lab standards: cleanliness, safety, waste handling, documentation, and quality control routines Supporting users of the facility with practical guidance on sample submission and preparation Contributing to the ongoing development of workflows and procedures in the facility Supporting students
In addition to this is it expected that you will take part in some Department duties, particularly involving laboratory and chemical safety. This will be done in close collaboration with a team of 4 other technicians working within the same section that hosts the Metabolomics Core.
Qualifications We expect that you: Hold a degree as a laboratory technician (laborant) and/or a BSc/MSc in analytical chemistry, biochemistry, chemical engineering, or a related field Have hands-on experience with HPLC instrumentation. Experience with high-resolution MS (e.g., QTOF) is a strong advantage Are experienced in routine laboratory work, including sample preparation, solvent handling, and general upkeep of analytical labs Have knowledge of Good Laboratory Practice, safety regulations, and documentation standards Are structured, detail-oriented, and able to plan your own work independently Enjoy collaborating with researchers of different backgrounds and communicating in English (our working language) Ideally, have experience with natural products chemistry, and sample preparation

The appointment is permanent full time. The position starts 1st December 2026 or as soon as possible after.
