Sales Account Manager
Are you a driven, personable salesperson who loves winning new business and growing it into a lasting relationship? Do you want the freedom to build and own your own client base, backed by a company with 40 years of credibility in promotional merchandise? If you thrive on the chase as much as the close, we'd love to hear from you.
About us
Drayton is a long-established promotional merchandise company (40 years) based in Reading. We provide creative merchandise ideas and solutions to clients across a huge variety of sectors — anything from a cupcake to a Christmas bauble, or a parasol to a full exhibition stand. With a large range of in-house branding machinery and a 3,500 sq ft showroom, we look after logistics and build webstores to support clients’ events and exhibitions, shipping materials worldwide.
The role
We're seeking a driven, experienced Sales Account Manager to grow and manage your own portfolio of clients. This is a sales-led role — you'll be expected to hunt for new business, build genuine relationships, and develop accounts across a few industry sectors of your own choosing.
Key responsibilities:
- Proactively identify, target and win new business within your chosen industry sectors
- Build and own a portfolio of client accounts, developing long-term, trusted relationships
- Understand client briefs and translate them into creative, effective merchandise solutions
- Manage the full sales cycle, from initial pitch and quoting through to order and delivery
- Identify opportunities to grow existing accounts through repeat business and upselling
- Work closely with our production and coordination teams to ensure client expectations are met
- Keep accurate records of pipeline, quotes and sales activity within our systems
- Stay on top of market trends and competitor activity within your sectors
Who we're looking for
- 2+ years' sales experience, ideally within the promotional merchandise industry
- A confident, proactive salesperson who enjoys prospecting as much as account management
- A strong negotiator with a track record of hitting or exceeding sales targets
- An excellent relationship-builder with polished communication skills, on the phone and face to face
- Someone commercially minded, able to spot opportunities and act on them
- A creative thinker who can match client briefs to the right merchandise solutions
- A self-starter who can manage their own pipeline and time effectively
What you'll get
- Free on-site parking
- Private healthcare after 2 years’ service
- Casual dress
- Well-equipped kitchen and well-maintained offices
- Option for free branded clothing
- Normally an extended Christmas break
Please note this role is fully office-based, with no hybrid working.
