Product Design Intern (UI/UX)

Must-have:HealthTech

About the role You’ll join a small product design team working on a healthcare product used by patients, doctors, and clinic operations staff. This is not a shadowing role. You’ll be given real work with real deadlines, sized so you can finish it. We expect you to be new at this. What we’re looking for is someone who wants to get better quickly and isn’t precious about being corrected in front of other people. What you’ll work on Exact scope depends on what’s live when you join, but expect a mix of:

  • Contributing screens and flows to a feature an experienced designer is leading, with your own sections to own..
  • Design system work: auditing components for inconsistencies, documenting states and usage, building variants against the existing token structure..
  • Sitting in on usability tests, then taking a pass at synthesizing what you heard..
  • Preparing designs for handoff and checking the built version against the spec..
  • One self-contained project of your own by the end, scoped with your mentor.

What we’re looking for

  • Currently studying or recently graduated in design, HCI, or a related field. Self-taught is fine if the portfolio holds up..
  • A portfolio, coursework, or personal projects. Academic work counts. Unfinished work counts. We’d rather see three honest projects than one polished one..
  • Working knowledge of Figma: frames, auto layout, components, basic prototyping..
  • You can explain why you made a design choice, even if the reason turns out to be wrong..
  • You take feedback without going quiet, and you ask when you’re stuck instead of disappearing for two days..
  • Enough written English to write interface text and explain your thinking in a document..

Not required You don’t need internship experience, industry experience, research training, or healthcare knowledge. You don’t need to know what a design token is. You’ll learn that here. What you’ll get

  • Direct mentorship from a senior designer, with a weekly 1:1..
  • Your work in a shipped product used by real patients and clinicians, not a sandbox..
  • Written feedback at the midpoint and the end, useful enough to take to your next role..
  • A named, portfolio-usable project. We’ll agree at the start what you’re allowed to publish..
