[DISION TECH] Web Application Firewall (WAF) Specialist

Your tasks

We are seeking an experienced Web Application Firewall (WAF) Specialist to support the implementation, migration, configuration, and operational readiness of a cloud-based application security platform. This is a hands-on engineering role combining application security, platform configuration, migration, and operational support. You will work closely with internal network security teams, application owners, and external technical specialists to support deployment and the transition of applications and services into production.

• Support the technical implementation of the application security platform throughout the project lifecycle.
• Assist with migrating applications and services from the existing platform to the target environment.
• Provide engineering expertise for platform configuration, security policy implementation, and service optimisation.
• Collaborate with internal network security teams and external technical specialists during deployment activities.
• Support application onboarding, validation, testing, and transition into operational service.
• Contribute to operational readiness by preparing technical documentation, operational procedures, and knowledge-transfer materials.
• Provide technical support during the initial operational phase, including troubleshooting and issue resolution where required.
• Advise on secure platform design, WAF policies, API protection, and other relevant application security capabilities.
• Identify implementation risks, propose mitigation measures, and support the successful delivery of project objectives.
• Perform hands-on engineering and operational activities within the agreed project scope, covering implementation, migration, configuration, testing, and operational readiness.

Requirements

Required skills and experience

• Practical experience implementing and configuring cloud-based application security platforms.
• Experience with Cloudflare, particularly its Web Application Firewall (WAF) capabilities.
• Strong knowledge of WAF configuration, policy implementation, tuning, and troubleshooting.
• Experience migrating and onboarding applications and services onto application security or application-delivery platforms.
• Understanding of web application security, API protection, and secure platform design.
• Hands-on experience with application validation, technical testing, production deployment, and operational support.
• Ability to translate technical and security requirements into effective platform configurations and policies.
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, with a structured approach to identifying and resolving technical issues.
• Experience preparing technical documentation, operational procedures, and knowledge-transfer materials.
• Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with technical teams and project stakeholders.
• English proficiency, both spoken and written, is essential for technical collaboration, project communication, and documentation.

• Participation in enterprise-scale application security implementation or migration projects.
• Collaboration with external professional services or specialist engineering teams.
• Experience supporting operational readiness and the transition from project delivery to ongoing operations.
• Experience conducting technical handovers and knowledge-transfer sessions.
