Legal Counsel International Trade and Customs (m/f/d) (Compliance Manager)

Are you at home in international trade law and do you navigate confidently between export control, sanctions, customs law, and global regulatory requirements? In this position, you will take on a central legal advisory function for the EMEA region and Israel and work closely with international specialist departments and decision-makers. On behalf of our client, we are looking for an experienced legal personality with strong international experience as part of our recruitment services. This position is to be filled as part of direct placement / recruitment services.

Senior Legal Counsel (m/f/d)

Your tasks:

• Legal advice on international trade law and Trade Compliance
• Assessment and management of risks in the areas of export control, sanctions, customs, and cross-border trade
• Advising management, sales, engineering, operations, and other international specialist departments
• Development and further development of compliance guidelines, processes, and control mechanisms
• Support of audits, investigations, and risk assessments
• Cooperation with authorities, licensing bodies, and external legal advisors
• Legal support for M&A activities and international corporate projects
• Monitoring regulatory developments and deriving concrete recommendations for action
• Conducting training on trade law and regulatory topics

Your qualifications:

• Completed university degree in law
• Several years of sound professional experience in international trade law
• Comprehensive knowledge in Trade Compliance, export control, sanctions, and customs law
• International professional experience is mandatory
• Knowledge of relevant trade and customs regulations in the EU as well as ideally in USA, UK, and Israel
• Experience in an international corporate or company environment
• Confident appearance towards management and international stakeholders
• Fluent English skills, German skills are an advantage
• Willingness for occasional national and international business trips, approximately once a month
• Direct influence on strategic compliance and business decisions
• Cooperation with international teams in Europe, Israel, and the USA
