Settlement Executive (Commodities Trading)

Your tasks

We are seeking a Settlement Executive to manage the accurate and timely settlement of commodity trading transactions. The successful candidate will verify trade details, prepare invoices, coordinate payments and reconcile accounts, working closely with trading, operations and finance teams.

• Process settlements for commodity purchases and sales in accordance with contractual payment terms.
• Verify trade details, pricing calculations, quantities and supporting documents before settlement.
• Prepare and check invoices, debit notes and credit notes.
• Coordinate payment instructions and supporting approvals with Finance and Treasury.
• Monitor settlement deadlines, outstanding receivables and payment discrepancies.
• Reconcile counterparty statements, receipts and payments against trading and accounting records.
• Liaise with counterparties and internal teams to resolve invoicing and settlement issues.
• Maintain accurate settlement records and update trading or accounting systems.
• Support month-end closing, account reconciliations and audit requirements.
• Follow internal controls and approval procedures, escalating exceptions promptly.
• Assist with improvements to settlement workflows and reporting.

Requirements

• Diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or a related discipline.
• 2 to 3 years of experience in settlements, trade accounting or finance operations, preferably within commodities trading.
• Good understanding of invoicing, payment processing and account reconciliation.
• Familiarity with commodity contracts, shipping documents and pricing mechanisms would be advantageous.
• Strong numerical skills and attention to detail.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel; experience with ERP or commodity trading systems would be beneficial.
• Able to manage multiple transactions and meet tight deadlines.
• Good communication and problem-solving skills.
