Senior Purchasing Executive – Marine Industry Job Summary We are seeking an experienced Senior Purchasing Executive with a strong background in the Marine/Shipping industry to manage procurement activities for vessels, ship management operations and shore-based requirements. The role will be responsible for sourcing marine equipment, spare parts, services and supplies while ensuring competitive pricing, quality and timely delivery. Key Responsibilities Manage end-to-end purchasing activities for marine vessels, ship management and shore-based operations. Source and procure marine spare parts, machinery components, equipment, consumables, deck stores, safety equipment and general vessel supplies. Obtain and evaluate quotations from suppliers, negotiate pricing and commercial terms, and issue purchase orders. Work closely with Technical Superintendents, Fleet Managers, Chief Engineers, vessel crews and Operations teams to understand and fulfil procurement requirements. Develop and maintain strong relationships with marine suppliers, ship chandlers, manufacturers and service providers locally and internationally. Identify reliable suppliers and alternative sources to improve pricing, product availability and procurement efficiency. Monitor purchase orders from order placement through to delivery, ensuring materials and spare parts arrive within required timelines. Coordinate urgent procurement requirements, including breakdown, dry-docking and vessel repair requirements. Review supplier performance based on pricing, quality, delivery reliability and service levels. Maintain accurate purchasing records, supplier databases, quotations, purchase orders and procurement documentation. Ensure all purchases comply with company procurement procedures, budgets and approval requirements. Support procurement cost-control initiatives and identify opportunities to reduce overall vessel operating costs. Coordinate with Finance and Accounts teams to resolve invoice, payment and supplier-related issues. Assist in developing annual purchasing budgets and provide procurement reports and cost analysis to management. Stay updated on marine equipment, spare parts availability, market pricing and developments within the maritime supply chain. Requirements Diploma/Degree in Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Business, Maritime Studies or a related discipline. Minimum 2 years of purchasing/procurement experience, preferably within the Marine, Shipping, Ship Management or Offshore industry. Strong knowledge of marine spare parts Experience dealing with shipowners, ship managers, shipyards, marine suppliers and international vendors. Strong negotiation and supplier management skills with a proven ability to achieve competitive pricing. Experience handling urgent vessel requirements, dry-docking procurement and technical purchasing is highly advantageous. Good understanding of international shipping, logistics and delivery requirements. Strong attention to detail, organisational and analytical skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office and procurement/ERP systems. Able to work independently in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple vessel requirements simultaneously.
