Senior Projects Manager (Owner)

Overview We are seeking an experienced Senior Projects Manager to lead the execution of vessel repair, maintenance, conversion, and dry-docking projects within an in-house ship repair yard. The successful candidate will oversee multiple projects from planning through completion, ensuring work is delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the highest quality standards while supporting fleet operational requirements. Key Responsibilities Project Management Lead and manage multiple vessel repair, maintenance, conversion, and dry-docking projects from project award through completion and handover.

Develop project execution plans, schedules, resource allocation, and budgets to ensure timely delivery.

Monitor project progress, costs, risks, and performance, implementing recovery plans where required.

Ensure all projects are completed in accordance with contractual, technical, and operational requirements.

Yard & Technical Coordination Coordinate closely with Technical Superintendents, Fleet Managers, Production, Engineering, Procurement, and Operations teams throughout the project lifecycle.

Plan and supervise repair scopes, inspections, machinery overhauls, steel renewal, piping, electrical, and mechanical works.

Review technical specifications, repair quotations, work orders, and variation requests.

Contractor & Vendor Management Manage subcontractors, vendors, and service providers to ensure work quality, safety, productivity, and timely completion.

Coordinate procurement of materials, equipment, and technical services required for repair projects.

Evaluate contractor performance and resolve technical or commercial issues during project execution.

Quality, Safety & Compliance Ensure all repair activities comply with company procedures, safety standards, statutory requirements, and industry best practices.

Promote a strong Health, Safety, Security, Environment, and Quality (HSSEQ) culture across the shipyard.

Lead project reviews, incident investigations, and corrective action implementation where required.

Client & Stakeholder Management Act as the primary point of contact for internal vessel stakeholders during repair periods.

Conduct project meetings, provide progress updates, and manage expectations throughout the repair period.

Prepare project completion reports, cost summaries, and lessons learned for continuous improvement.

Requirements Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Naval Architecture, or a related engineering discipline.

At least 5 years of relevant experience in ship repair, dry-docking, shipbuilding, or marine engineering, including 3 years in a project management or leadership role.

Strong experience managing vessel repair and dry-docking projects within a shipyard or ship management environment.

Good understanding of marine engineering systems, ship repair processes, production planning, and contractor management.

Experience managing project budgets, schedules, procurement, and cost control.

Strong leadership, communication, stakeholder management, and problem-solving skills.

Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and project planning software such as Microsoft Project or Primavera is an advantage.

Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced shipyard environment and work closely with cross-functional teams.

Willingness to travel for vessel attendance or project requirements where necessary.

Preferred Experience Experience managing an in-house ship repair yard supporting a vessel owner's fleet.

Experience with tankers, bulk carriers, container vessels, offshore vessels, or specialised commercial vessels.

Familiarity with planned maintenance systems (PMS), dry-docking planning, and fleet technical management.
