About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Project Engineer to join our client’s marine engineering team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and coordinating marine projects from the initial engineering and planning stages through to installation, commissioning, testing, and project completion.
This role will work closely with customers, shipyards, shipowners, vessel operators, subcontractors, suppliers, and internal engineering teams to ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and according to the required technical specifications.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and coordinate marine engineering projects from project kick-off through completion.
- Review project specifications, drawings, technical requirements, and customer documentation.
- Develop project plans, schedules, budgets, and resource requirements.
- Coordinate with engineering, procurement, production, commissioning, and service teams to ensure smooth project execution.
- Liaise with shipyards, subcontractors, suppliers, and other stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
- Prepare and review technical documentation, drawings, calculations, method statements, reports, and project documentation.
- Monitor project progress, identify potential delays or technical issues, and implement appropriate corrective actions.
- Coordinate equipment delivery, installation, testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting.
- Attend onboard vessels, shipyards, offshore sites, or customer facilities when required.
- Provide technical support and resolve engineering issues arising during installation and commissioning.
- Ensure projects comply with relevant marine standards, class requirements, flag-state requirements, and applicable regulations.
- Work with procurement and suppliers to ensure equipment and materials are delivered according to project specifications and schedules.
- Monitor project costs and assist with variation orders, change requests, and additional works.
- Prepare regular project status reports for management and customers.
- Maintain accurate project records and ensure proper handover and close-out documentation.
- Identify project risks and work proactively to minimise technical, commercial, and operational issues.
- Ensure all project activities are carried out in accordance with company HSE policies and procedures.
Requirements
- Diploma or Degree in Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Naval Architecture, or a related engineering discipline.
- 2 years of relevant project engineering experience within the marine, offshore, shipyard, vessel, or marine equipment industry.
- Experience managing or coordinating marine engineering projects from design through installation and commissioning.
- Good understanding of marine systems, equipment, engineering drawings, and technical specifications.
- Familiarity with marine classification societies and industry standards.
- Strong project coordination, planning, and problem-solving skills.
- Good communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation.
- Comfortable working onboard vessels and at shipyards or offshore locations when required.
- Willingness to travel locally and internationally depending on project requirements.
- Able to work independently while coordinating effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
