Naval Architect

Role Overview We are seeking a Naval Architect to provide technical and engineering support for marine salvage operations and wreck-removal projects. The successful candidate will support projects throughout the tender, preparation and execution stages, working closely with Salvage Masters, Superintendents, subcontractors, clients and relevant authorities. The position requires a practical and adaptable engineer who can develop safe and workable solutions in challenging environments. Depending on project requirements, the role will involve working from the Singapore office or travelling internationally at short notice to support on-site operations. Key Responsibilities Provide naval architectural and shipbuilding support for salvage and wreck-removal projects.

Conduct technical feasibility studies and calculations during tender, planning and execution stages.

Evaluate vessel condition, structural integrity, stability, position and environmental conditions.

Perform hydrostatic, stability, strength, buoyancy, lifting, pulling and towing calculations.

Develop technical solutions for damaged vessels, towing arrangements, lifting plans and temporary repairs.

Prepare engineering drawings, calculation reports, method statements and project documentation.

Use modelling and engineering software to analyse complex salvage scenarios.

Develop and validate assumptions used in salvage calculations and operational plans.

Support the preparation of salvage plans based on available equipment, client requirements and local regulations.

Explain technical plans and calculations to clients, surveyors, insurers, authorities and project stakeholders.

Work closely with Salvage Masters and Superintendents during emergency-response operations.

Assess and supervise naval architecture and construction work performed by subcontractors.

Provide technical support during the fabrication, mobilisation and installation of salvage equipment.

Develop and improve calculation methods used for salvage and wreck-removal activities.

Contribute to the development and improvement of specialised salvage equipment.

Ensure engineering activities comply with applicable safety, quality and environmental requirements.

Support sustainability and environmental-protection objectives throughout project execution.

Requirements Degree in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, Shipbuilding or an equivalent discipline.

Minimum 2 years of relevant naval architecture experience.

Practical experience in shipbuilding, vessel design, structural engineering or marine construction.

Experience performing vessel stability, hydrostatic and structural calculations.

Proficiency in relevant engineering software such as GHS, HEC-SALV, AutoCAD or Rhino.

Experience in marine salvage, wreck removal, offshore engineering, heavy lifting or towage would be advantageous.

Strong analytical and technical problem-solving capabilities.

Able to develop practical engineering solutions under time-sensitive and challenging conditions.

Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills.

Hands-on, accountable and comfortable working in multidisciplinary project teams.

Willing to travel internationally at short notice.

Willing to work outside regular office hours, including weekends and public holidays, when required by an emergency or project.
