Responsibilities

  • Serve as the designated Company Security Officer (CSO) and a member of the Emergency Response Team (ERT).
  • Conduct vessel inspections to verify compliance with the Company's Health, Safety, Security, Environmental, and Quality (HSSEQ) standards and management systems.
  • Support the continuous enhancement of the Integrated Management System (IMS) and Maritime Labour Convention (MLC) processes.
  • Develop and distribute safety bulletins, notices, circulars, and awareness communications.
  • Investigate marine casualties, incidents, near misses, and personnel accidents, including preparation of reports and corrective action recommendations.
  • Coordinate and monitor schedules for ISM, ISPS, and MLC internal audits across the fleet.
  • Perform vessel security assessments, training, and response activities while ensuring compliance with charterer and regulatory security requirements.
  • Manage the dissemination of security-related information and oversee testing of the Ship Security Alert System (SSAS).
  • Promote safety and security awareness by issuing relevant policies, procedures, guidance notes, and operational updates to vessel personnel.
  • Plan, implement, and monitor safety training programmes, drills, and emergency exercises to maintain a strong safety culture throughout the fleet.
  • Deliver training on the Fleet Management System, specifically HSSEQ and Quality Document Management System (QDMS) modules, to both shipboard and shore-based personnel.
  • Review and approve operational and safety-related submissions, including:
  • Fleet Management System records for incidents, near misses, Flag State Control (FSC), Port State Control (PSC), drills, and monthly safety committee meetings.
  • Master's review reports.
  • Shipboard training records and competency development activities.
  • Incident investigation reports and corrective actions.
  • Hot work permits.
  • ISM, ISPS, and MLC internal audit reports.
  • Risk Assessments and Management of Change (MOC) documentation, where applicable.
  • Manage and oversee cadet training and development programmes.
  • Conduct audits and verifications of onboard training activities, drills, and emergency preparedness exercises.
  • Undertake additional duties and projects assigned by Management as required.

Requirements

  • Hold a Certificate of Competency (Deck) Class 1 or Class 2, or possess a Diploma in a maritime or marine-related discipline.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Willing and able to travel internationally and sail onboard company vessels or other assigned vessels when required.
  • Familiarity with ISM Code, ISPS Code, MLC requirements, and maritime safety management practices.
  • Capable of working independently while collaborating effectively with both shipboard and shore-based teams.
  • Strong analytical, investigative, and problem-solving abilities with attention to detail.
