Chartering Coordinator Dry Bulk
Job Description & Requirements Role Overview We are seeking a Chartering Coordinator to provide commercial and administrative support to the chartering team. The successful candidate will coordinate vessel and cargo information, prepare voyage calculations, maintain chartering records and assist with fixture and post-fixture activities. This position is suitable for an organised and commercially minded professional with experience in chartering, shipbroking, vessel operations or shipping coordination. Key Responsibilities Support the chartering team in sourcing and evaluating suitable vessels and cargo opportunities.
Monitor vessel positions, cargo requirements, freight rates and market developments.
Prepare preliminary voyage estimates, freight calculations and vessel-costing reports.
Coordinate enquiries, indications, offers, counteroffers and fixture information.
Prepare and maintain fixture recaps, Charter Parties and related commercial documentation.
Review key Charter Party terms and ensure agreed conditions are accurately recorded.
Liaise with shipowners, charterers, brokers, agents and internal operations teams.
Coordinate the handover of confirmed fixtures to the operations team.
Maintain accurate records of enquiries, negotiations, fixtures and vessel schedules.
Monitor voyage progress and assist with post-fixture matters where required.
Support the preparation of laytime calculations, demurrage claims and voyage-performance reports.
Prepare regular freight-market and commercial activity updates for management.
Maintain customer, broker and shipowner databases.
Assist with invoicing, documentation and other chartering administration.
Ensure commercial activities comply with company procedures and applicable regulations.
Requirements Diploma or degree in Maritime Studies, Shipping, Logistics, Business or a related discipline.
2 to 4 years of experience in chartering, shipbroking, vessel operations or shipping coordination.
Good understanding of voyage calculations, Charter Party terms and shipping documentation.
Familiarity with vessel positions, freight markets and post-fixture processes.
Strong numerical, analytical and organisational skills.
Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple requirements and deadlines.
Proficient in Microsoft Office and relevant shipping or voyage-management systems.
Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
Able to work independently while collaborating effectively with commercial and operational teams.
